Ooooh...sorry. It's been almost a month since I've updated this story... Big oops on my part ya know. I just don't feel like it anyone. Maybe because I got sick and didn't feel like doing anything at all. Anyways, I can't guarantee it won't be another month since spring break is about to end but I'll try. (That's not a promise) hope you enjoy.
Zuma groaned as he shielded his face from the bright rays from the sun. "Could've sworn it was winter." He mumbled as his eyes adjusted to the sudden change in lighting and temperature.
He stood on all fours and saw his teamate, Ella, plopped on the ground hopelessly looking towards the middle. "Ella!"
Her head snapped over and her tail got a small burst of energy before laying limp again. She just looked at him. "Remembew the plan!" Zuma yelled out.
"Shut up!" A deep voice shouted from behind. Zuma turned and raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"
The cage to his left was inhabited by a tan and black Shiba who glared at Zuma. Zuma analyzed the dog and took him as no threat. "I was worried for a second to be honest. Thought you were something...scarier." Zuma said with a grin.
Ella listened with her jaw on the ground as Zuma made enemies with their neighbors. She looked to her right and saw a Chihuahua listening to them. She looked around in second hand embarrassment.
"You may be talking now but when these cages drop I'm choking you out. Annoying ass voice." The Shiba yelled to Zuma. He laughed. "Good luck trying to stay above the marsh.
Zuma looked to the cornucopia. As expected the path to it was as bad as a broken vase.
The sound of a helicopter took over as it hovered over the center. Below it hung two large speakers. "Hello tributes of this years hunger games!" A familiar voice shouted.
One by one the tributes stood up knowing what would soon happen. "Let me say the fast version of the rules. Ya know. Ahem, 36 of you are locked in cages right now, you will be forced to eliminate the other 34 tributes. Only 2...or 1 depending on the situation, will make it out. If you refuse to fight, you'll be stuck in here forever until you all starve. There is no escape from the dome. There are an abundant amount of food and weapons in the cornucopia but there are some scattered around the area. The games will keep going infinitely until there's is only one district left... what else... I assume that's it, this isn't my cup of tea but whatever. I'm just gonna start the count down." She chuckled.
Zuma felled his heart drop as realization hit him, he was in this.
"3!" Blasted throughout the air sending chills down his spine.
"2!" He faced the center and looked to Ella who wasn't enthusiastic. She was standing, but hunched.
"1!" The cages dropped, instantly dogs ran towards the middle and some ran away.
Zuma jumped into the marsh away from the center and hopped through the muddy water. The splashes he made deafened him from outside noises.
He slowed down more and more. He grunted in frustration as he shook his paw free from whatever was slowing him down. Suddenly his head was under the water.
He felt two heavy paws on top of him pressing him into the marsh bed. He bit one of the paws and rolled clockwise, he gasped for air as he found himself at the top of water.
He coughed up water and saw his killer pop up a couple of feet ahead of him. It was the Shiba. They growled and circle each other in the water.
Ella watched Zuma and the Shiba fight. Just a couple of yards away from them was a Boston Terrier running towards them with a bag in his mouth. She looked farther back and saw dogs fighting each other in the middle, none seemed to have died yet.
