"What do you plan to do about Henri?" Thomas asked. I had been avoiding Thomas and Ezra, and especially Henri for the last day in a half. They had finally cornered me into Byron's office who wasn't around. Byron had sent a note saying he wanted to discuss my classes but it turned out they had sent it.

I took a seat in Byron's chair.

"Can we not talk about Henri" I sighed heavily. My head hurt just thinking about him. "How about we discuss what Henri told me, he said Dr. Nan mentioned that King Phillip was magically ill."

"He is probably being poisoned by the Warlocks working for Charles and the Duke. That is something that we should have expected a long time ago. It is a matter to time before they try to kill him." Thomas rolled his eyes at us like if it was old news. "Anyway we have to wait for them to discuss that with us. Byron is probably getting a briefing which is why he left this morning. He should be back before dinner. What are you going to do about Henri?"

"Is this some kind of intervention?" I grumbled to myself. "Why are you guys want to know?" I slouched in the chair. It was a really nice comfortable chair. I wanted to close my eyes and fall asleep in it.

"Because he is being annoying. Thomas had to keep me away from him so I wouldn't punch him." Ezra rolled his eyes. "Go talk to him"

"I don't want to" I grumbled. I pressed the palms of my hands to my eyes. "I am so mad at him. Why did he have to make things so difficult. Why did he get with the other girl" I let out a low growl. "Why can't he just be honest?"

"It isn't like you were being honest with him. You have feelings for Byron?" Thomas muttered. I dropped my hands.

"Shut up" I glowered at him. "It isn't like I was making out with Byron every chance I got. Trust me, there were plenty of times I could have kissed him or worse ended up with him but I didn't. I kept thinking about Henri."

"What about the almost kiss?" Thomas raised his eyebrows. Thomas needed to keep his mouth shut. I crumbled a piece of paper and threw it at him.

"I wouldn't have kissed him. I never do." I shrugged. I settled into the chair with a heavy sigh. "I just- I wanted things to work out with Henri because I like him. I really like him.."

"Byron?" Thomas asked with raised eyebrows. Again, I threw another crumbled piece of paper at him.

"Nothing. Nothing, can happen between us."

"So Henri is the next best option?" Ezra chuckled.

"No, I liked Byron but with Henri it was easier" I smiled at them. Just thinking about Henri gave me goose-bumps. "It was fun and worry-free. He was someone that I liked being with- someone that I couldn't stand being mad at. Byron is just" I crumbled another piece of paper. I squeezed it in between my hands. "Byron is obnoxious, too smart for his own good, a really big jerk and when I want to see him I want to punch him the face- over and over again." I squeezed the ball of paper and threw it across the room. "I hate that he knows me so well and that I can tell him everything I can't tell Henri."

I leaned forward so my head could lay against the edge of the table.

"Soo what you are saying is that you are glad you are breaking up with Henri?" Thomas sounded confused.

"No" I lifted my head up quickly. "I like Henri. I guess my problem is that I can't be honest with him. He knows who we are but I can' tell him anything. I can only talk about things to Byron and he can't see Ares" I replied sadly. "He really means a lot to me, guys"

"Well tell him that" Ezra shrugged. "Be honest with him."

"I can't be honest with him, Ezra" I scoffed at him. "Besides, what if when things start to get complicated and we can't be together. What if our relationship lasts until we become Guardians in December and he realizes that I'm not worth it."
