A Goddess Great Mistake

Capter 3: Omega

Me, Tobey and Sacha sat by one of the tables. We each had a plate full of food in front of us. A small bowl with fruit salad and a small plate with toast. I also had a mug with early grey tea and a glass of juice.

"Hey did you guys hear about the alphas son returning" Sacha said before taking a bite of her toast.

"Yeah! I heard Lily talk about it yesterday to her minions. She is still hoping that they are mates." She both laughed and I just looked at them in woundeer.

"Who's Lilly?" I asked and their heads snapped to me.

"Lilly was Alpha Jack's son's girlfriend for over three years. Jack's son Hase Broke up with her a year ago before he started traveling to find his mate." They both looked at me.

"I feel sorry for her. She spent three years with a man and they aren't even mates! I would be heartbroken if that happened to me. Just think about it, we don't know who our mate is and if we fall in love then who is to say that may or may not be our mate. Also both individuals must have shifted before they can know for sure if they are mates or not." They both looked at me like I was crazy.

"But she is a bitch, and we all know it except for you!" Tobey nearly screamed. I looked at him with a Thats mean look in my eyes before saying goodbye. I took all my empty dishes to the kitchen and left them there. I had to get to work.

My work for today was with the kids I was supposed to be at the daycare today taking care of the newborn pups up to the five year olds. I love kids. They are so happy and funny, I mean look at them fall. I made my way to the bright yellow building and walked in to see three middle aged women standing in different areas of the room. They looked up when they heard the door open and a emidiet smile was on their faces.

"Hi sweetie, How can we help you?" A brown haired woman who had smile wrinkles by her eyes said walking up to me.

" I am supposed to be here for the day learning and the job. I'm a first year at the pack house." I said to her with a smile.

"That great! We actually had our fourth coleg call in sick so we need the extra help." A woman with vibrant red hair said, she was a bit shorter than me but younger than the brown-haired woman.

"All right I am Wendy this is Linda and Greece" the third woman said. Linda was the one with brown hair and Grace was the red haired one. I said hi to them all and introduced myself.

"Right, So the kids should be walkin in any minute now and this is one of the most important jobs in the pack. We are taking care of the next generations while their parents are out working. We are the ones who keep them safe if something were supposed to happen." Wendy looked back at me and kept on showing me the daycare.

"Here is the opening to the safe room tunnel. If the sirens go off one of us will go down first counting heads as they come. The rest of the staff will stay up and gatter all the children then one of the staff will go down so that there are two grown ups down there. When the second staff member is in the bunker, will the ones that are still in the daycare. Run outside as a distraction so that all their attention isn't on the day care." She went through alot of other things but that one was the most important. Seconds later did at least fifty kids come through the door and started to play with all the toys. Grease and Linda said hi to their parents, dropping them off and checking them of a chart.

"Hi, who are you?" A little girl with her ginger hair in two braids asked me.

"My name is Quinn, what's your name?" I gave her a smile.

"My name is Hanna and you are pretty" Hanna had some problems saying pretty but she was so cute. She was dressed in a pink dress whit with leggings that had flowers printed on them under. Hanna ran off laughing to some friends who were playing in the playing store.

The door pend and a mom came in with her baby crying and all the others were busy so I went over, and the mom gave me her child.

"Take care of my Lilac for me, By baby mommy loves you" she was gone. Grease came up to me and gave me a knowing look.

"She always does that" she checked the baby off the list with all the children's names and just walked away. I still stood there with the crying baby in my arms. Looking down at her I saw something, I don't know what but I just know what to do. I rocked her in my arms as I walked through the room to the kitchen. I looked at the list of the ones that drank formula and gave the correct amount for Lilac. Once the bottle was done I gave it to her. She took it and drank the whole thing immediately. After that she got back to sleeping and I woke up from what felt like a trans.

"Wow" I exhaled. Linda walked in an looked at me with round eyes.

"I called it!" Wait what?

"I could feel it from the first time you stepped in through the door. Let me guess you haven't shifted?" I shaked my head.

"You are an Omega'' I looked at her questioning her statement.

"Now don't worry child, it is not as bad as they make it sound. Omegas are rair and a long time ago they were more respected than the alpha himself. A thru Omega is a natural of taking care of kids and wounds. They were the ones raising the kids and they were the ones taking care of the sick. The omegas didn't have to train or even know what they were doing. They just did it. But that was before the new technology came and made a lot of things easier for others. It also helped the healing time go faster than it used to be. So less people got the gift and whit time they became looked down at. Nowadays most packs make the omegas do the dirty job." She said. I just looked at her. I had never been big or strong. My parent had started to worry that I never were to shift but this means that I had a chance.

"So I can still get a cans to shift?" She looked at me and at the child that was still in my arms.

"Well there I don't know, I think so but I do not know for sure, But I am going to talk to Alpha Jack and say that you are starting out training here." She smiled at me and walked away. Wow that was a lot. I looked at Lilac and walked over to the cribs to put her down.

The day went by fast and before I knew it, was I back in my bed and fast asleep.
