-Author's POV-
It was a cold shiny June night of the year 1999, the year of infamous Kargil War.
I was sitting at the base camp with my friend Captain Raj and Captain Krishnan. We had the control over almost all of the Southern regions with some fresh conquests. The enemy forces were retreating towards the north and the whole situation was under control. We had them cornered and such a lot of good new meant celebration for us, so the other soldiers were hosting a small party inside the bunkers.
We were sitting beside a large crackling bonfire, which was emitting golden sparks like that of the feathers of a Phoenix. It reminded me of a book I had read in my childhood. The atmosphere around was very happy and everybody looked as if they were happy go merry. I was looking at the sparking night sky where the stars shone like sparking crystals when I suddenly heard a noise towards the back of the camp.
The noise was like someone moving through a pile of dead leaves. That sound was then suddenly followed by a loud gun shot and this was followed by a horrific scream from the back side of the camp!
At once, hearing the scream Krishnan stood up and called out to the bunker saying "That must have been Raghuveer!". He took three men with him and sprinted to the back of the camp.
After a while he came back panting very hard. He said, "Raghuveer has been shot dead! And I think I saw a few Pakistani troops hiding in the bushes nearby and I also think that this is their work!".
Suddenly, a solider named Nathuram came running. He was breathing heavily and panting like anything. He sat down on the spot and we gave him some warm milk to drink so that he could stabilize himself. After sometime, he said what he had come here for.
"We are doomed! Our whole camp has been surrounded!"
Then we started seeing glowing eyes all around us and we knew that we were doomed.
