Chapter 1: Gift Ceremony

The brown floorboards of your new home creak underneath your feet as you walk into an empty room.

You have just moved into a new town called Encanto. The move was a bit unexpected, but your mom wanted to move closer with your relatives since your family was the only ones living in [country of your choice].

You were currently decorating your room. It was pretty much done, you just needed to do more sweeping. The room was pretty bland since you couldn't bring all of your belongings with you. You were hoping to do some shopping today to get some decor but your family wanted to attend Antonio's gift ceremony tonight, so you had to postpone it.

Your cousins that lived here filled you in on who the Madrigals were. You were shocked when they told you, and almost didn't believe them. The whole miracle thing was so interesting for you, it was like something straight out of a fantasy book. You really wanted to meet the Madrigals to see their gifts in person, thats the main reason why you agreed to go to the party.

"Mija, don't you think you should start getting ready for the party tonight?" You mom pops in to check on you

"Yeah, I'll start getting ready right now." You prop up the broom you were holding onto a wall and open up your closet.

You didn't really know what dress to wear to the ceremony, but you just decided on something simple. You chose to wear a [color] dress, the skirt was above ankle level and it had ruffled off-shoulder sleeves. There were small [color] flower designs on the hem of the skirt, and to go with the theme of flowers you wore a necklace with a small rose pendant. Lastly, you wore white shorts under and matching [dress color] flats.
[You don't have to wear all of this if you don't want to, this is just an example, you can wear whatever you want.]

After looking in the mirror and procrastinating on whether or not you should actually go out, you grabbed your beige satchel from your bed and headed outside your room.

"Mama, is it okay if I start heading out to the party now?" You call out for your mom

"Si, you can! Go ahead, we will be right behind you!" Your mom replies from her room

"Okay, gracias!" You walk out of the house as you see others also head out of their houses to get to the party.

The sky is pretty dark but the street is lit up with thousands of candles on the ground and up on peoples porches. You couldn't help but stare at all of the pretty lights as you followed the crowd to the Madrigal casa.

Soon enough, you got close enough to the house to admire its beauty. Its pretty big, you can see that the inside is also swarming with the warm yellow glow of candles.

A boy who looks your age shapeshifts into multiple people in front of you, greeting them. You were surprised seeing something so abnormal but you then realized he was probably the shapeshifting Madrigal. Unfortunately, your cousins forgot to mention all of their names to you. You see him walking over to you after greeting another person.

"Hola, hermosa! I haven't seen you around before, are you new here?" He greets with a toothy smile

"Yeah, I am actually. My names' (Y/N)." You were a bit caught off guard after he called you beautiful

"Nice to meet you, (Y/N)! Im Camilo, have fun at the party!" Camilo shapeshifts into you and shoots finger guns at you while winking. He shapeshifts back and walks past you to greet more people.

You continue walking into the house, your face still a bit red from this 'Camilo' guy calling you beautiful.
'Relax (Y/N), he just called you that because he was greeting you. He's probably calling every girl beautiful.'

You found yourself thinking about that boy's shapeshifting abilities. You wondered if the cute curly haired boy with a yellow ruana that he kept turning into was actually him or if he just pretended to be him. You were positive it was him but you just couldn't stop thinking about how easy it would be for him to catfish.

Your thoughts were interrupted by the sound of children's laughter. You look up to see children climbing the main stairs only for the stairs to shift into slide. The kids laughter only increases as they slide down to the floor.

You giggle a little at the children's playfulness. You were stunned at how the house moved on its own and you wondered how that was even possible. You came to a conclusion that the house was probably held together by magic instead of nails and beams.

You continue to look around for a bit and see a small crowd forming around the prettiest girl you have ever seen. Her ruffly lilac dress and silky dark hair majestically swayed with her movements as she danced, throwing flower petals in the air. You realized she must be the perfect plant-making Madrigal since she was pulling flower petals out of nowhere. She really was a beautiful sight to see.

You get snapped back into reality when you see people lining up, making a pathway from the door to the stairs. You joined them and stood in a random spot in the crowd, assuming it was because the ceremony was about to start.

The lights dimmed and the crowd's volume died down, as Abuela Alma prepares to speak.
"Fifty years ago, in our darkest moment, this candle blessed us with a miracle..."

You tuned out the rest of her speech because you've already heard the story from your cousins, but also because you were fixated on the shimmering door behind her at the top of the stairs. It glowed brightly in the dimmed atmosphere. You concluded that it was probably Antonio's door that was waiting to be opened.

Soon enough, the cutest little kid you have ever seen walked along the path with a very pretty girl walking beside him. Once he gets to the top, he vows to use his gift to serve the community and walks towards his door.
'C'mon, the anticipation is killing me! Whats his gift?!'

He touches the golden doorknob and...

Im sorry for making only one interaction with Camilo in this chapter, its just that my specialty is slowburns lol. I promise I'll make it up to y'all Camilo simps in the next chapter!

Im trying to make Antonio's ceremony as short as possible because (im assuming) yall have already seen the movie and it'll just be boring reading something about what you just watched, so sorry if its a bit fast!
