Chapter 4: Shambles

After you got your mom's avocados, you returned home and spent the rest of the day staying inside chilling with your brother. He may be a pain in the ass most of the time but sometimes he's actually fun to be around.

You fell asleep before Carlos and you awoke early in the morning to your brother telling all about what happened last night.

"There was a huge earthquake happening, AND YOU SLEPT THROUGH IT!" Your brother pulled your hand, leading you out of the house, "but thats not even the best part, look outside!"

Your jaw almost drops as you stare at the huge crack in the middle of the road. You look to the direction of the Madrigal house and see it in absolute shambles, It doesn't even look like a house anymore.

"Apparently, their miracle-candle thing died out and their house turned into ruins! A girl from their family also went missing but they just recently found her." Carlos explained

"Is Camilo okay?" You ask

"I dunno." Carlos shrugs, "I don't really care either."

"Ugh, you're so insensitive Carlos." You roll your eyes. You start running up the street to reach the Madrigal's house, your brother also joining you.

When you reach their house, you see Camilo standing next to his father in the houses debris along with his other family members.

"What? I can't say we don't have a house?? What is that, not a house!" You faintly hear him say

"Camilo!" You call out his name and wave at him. He spots you and runs over

"Hermosa! And Carlos! What are you two doing here?" Camilo asks, wiping a bit of debris dust off his ruana.

"We came over to see if you were okay!" You respond

"WE?! I just came over to see the house!" Carlos elbows you

You smack his head in return, "Carlos, they JUST lost their house! Could you be nicer!"

Camilo laughs at your bickering, "It's okay, I don't take any offense at all! Me and my family are alright"

"Thats good to hear." You smile

"Uh, I kind of have to go though, I think my family is starting another musical for the 5th time in this movie so, yeah.. Bye!"

"Bye!" You wave at him

[Oh no, Camilo broke the 4th wall?!]

Ever since the Madrigal's house became ruins, the town has helped them rebuild it from the ground up.

Camilo would sometimes sneak away from his family to hang out with you. Not only did you get closer with Camilo, you also became friends with his family, Especially Mirabel.

You and Mirabel would often have sleepovers at your house. You tried have Camilo over once but your mom didn't like the idea of you sharing a room with a boy, so she didn't let you.

You felt bad that Camilo and his family lost their gifts along with their house but Camilo told you that he was kind of happy he didn't have to always make sure he makes everyone smile 24/7, and that he was excited that he could finally feel like himself now.

All of that would soon be short lived though.

Im sorry for the short chapter and lack of Camilo content, I had MAJOR writers block while writing this chapter. This was kind of just a filler because I wanted to get the movies events out of the way so I don't constantly have to make sure the timeline is correct and stuff, but rest-assured, the next chapter will be full of Camilo content!

Also, im sorry if theres any spelling errors in here, I just wanted to get this chapter out as soon as possible so this was kind of rushed. Im just feeling under the weather right now and slept through the whole day (I swear, I was in a coma or smt.) and rushed to get this done when I woke up. I'll probably do a spell check later when I have enough energy for it but yeah, sorry for that
