Chapter 2: Gift Ceremony (part 2)

Antonio touches the gold doorknob and immediately the door glows brighter by his touch. A Toucan flys over and lands on his shoulder.

"Uh huh, uh huh! I understand you!" The little boy smiles, "Of course they can come!"

A whole swarm of birds, lemurs, and capybaras comes barreling in to stand by his side.

"We have a new gift!" Abuela Alma exclaims. The crowd cheers and the fireworks go off. (Poor Dolores.)

Antonio opens his door and reveals a gigantic jungle with a bunch of animals and vegetation. It was all so beautiful.

After the Madrigals took their family photo, the party started. Music was blasted all around the room, the adults began dancing and drinking and the children played with the animals.

All you could do was stand there taking in the scene. You were watching Antonio playing with his new jaguar pet and got a bit jealous, you really liked cats so you couldn't help it.

"Hey, hermosa, why aren't you dancing?!" The boy from earlier, Camilo, ran up to you doing a little dance.

"Me? Oh, I don't know how to dance haha.." you shouted over all of the music and people talking. (Sorry Dolores)

"Sin sentido (nonsense)! I'll teach you, c'mon!" Camilo holds his hand out to you and you grab it reluctantly. He pulls you close to him.

[Bear with me here, I've only taken dance classes once (against my will) in the 5th grade so this may be incorrect]

He intertwines his right hand with your left hand and holds them both outwards, then puts his other hand on your hip.

"And then you put your right hand on my shoulder." Camilo tells you with a smile

You could feel the blood rush up to your face, you've never danced with a boy before! You put your right hand on his shoulder, your cheeks getting hotter by the minute.
"Okay, now just follow my footsteps!" Camilo starts walking forwards and backwards and you just follow him. He was kind of dragging you at first since he didn't give you enough time to register he was gonna start moving.

As you two swiftly danced across the floor, you felt peoples stares and got a little embarrassed. You soon got the hang of his motions and began to enjoy it a little. You felt your world slow down a little as all you could do was look into his eyes. All of that was short-lived as Camilo started moving faster with the music.

"I don't think I can keep up with you anymore" you laugh a little as your feel yourself almost falter

"You'll get used to it, don't worry." Camilo gives you one of his signature smiles, "Its fun though, right?"

"Yeah, a little. A lot of people are staring at us though." You sweatdrop

"Thats okay, I want them to."

Before you could even register what he said, he raises your intertwined fingers and twirls you around. You could hear all of the adults around you 'whoo!'ing and whistling at what he did.

You laughed a little at his flirtatious actions, your cheeks still red. He softly grabbed your hands about to dance again when a scream stopped the music.

"The house is in danger!" A girl's shout echoes in the room.

"Mirabel..?" Camilo mutters under his breath

"Camilo? Whats going on?" You ask

"I'm not sure, we should probably check it out." The warmth of his hands leaves yours as he joins the crowd in leaving the room.
