°22° Café

[Ch.22]

As he heard his name sugawara turned and sauntered toward you, his lips a gentle smile and his eyes overflowing with care...

In that moment under the setting sun, you felt your heart ache and swell and twist and turn, your stomach fill with that familiar nauseating warm discomfort.

"[Name]-chan!" You now stood beside him struggling to control your words "how was it in there?" He grinned shifting his satchel onto his other arm.

"It was great to spend time with tendou, honestly" you, proud of your successful compilation of words failed to notice suga's subtle wince as you mentioned tendou. Either way you bantered with the boy as you wandered aimlessly around the now barren streets surrounding Shiratorizawa.

So it came quite suddenly when suga coughed for your attention, stood in deliberation. "Uhm [Name]-chan? I was thinking about organising a meet up to complete our group project..." He sounded unusually nervy so you elected to not interupt "do you think we could go to mine tomorrow after school?" You couldn't help but be slightly stunned, suga who was hardly ever reserved or nervous was nervous about asking to complete a school project. He was so cute

and whilst you hated that you found such minimal things so cute you couldn't help yourself anymore, your heart reacted without your brains consent. "I'll make sure it's fine with my dad, but I see no reason it wouldn't be" you reasoned, the boy's shoulders sunk and he release a pent up sigh. "Oh thank god, I thought you'd say no" the ashen haired boy chuckled dryly "why? It's just homework".

Suga's while face went bright Crimson and he started a brief laugh before continuing to waltz forward "what bus do you take from here then?" A master subject changer as always.

"I feel like going for a bite to eat...would you be okay to join?" It was a shameless self serving request but it didn't stop you being eager to hear his bright agreement and it came exactly as you had allowed yourself to hope. "Sure! What food place though, one nearby?"

After a little deliberation you decide that the nearby options were much too pricey and instead opted for one closer to the bus stop 'Amai's café!' the signage and posters had read.

As you entered the smell of crepes and tea flooded your senses, the sound of spatulas on pans and plates being placed down. The place was swarming with life even so late and the bustling chatter threw you off guard as you approached the counter, you had heard a familiar voice somewhere nearby.

"[Name]-chan? Earth to [Name]-chan?" Suga's mellow voice rung out amongst the chaos, the sweetest interruption to your thoughts possible. Turning to him and tilting your head in question he responded again "what did you want to order? Its on me" the heat on your cheeks couldn't be prevented with his forthcoming earnest this boy had all the power to make you melt and he didn't even know it.

"Hm, I'll have a strawberry crêpe then..." sugawara mumbled something inaudible at your request and although you strained to hear it the ruckus in the café made it impossible.

He himself was just relieved you hadn't heard his unnecessary comment.
