Chapter Three

Niall's POV

My whole body felt numb and the tears were still pouring from my eyes as we sped down the streets towards the hospital. I couldn't believe this was happening, I shook my foot up and down trying to get some feeling but I didn't feel anything. I just couldn't control myself. We pulled up to the hospital and at the instant we came to a stop I pushed the door open and flew out of the van. I ran into the building and headed straight for the receptionist.

"Skylar Saige, where is she!?" I pleaded to the woman

"I'm sorry. They're still working on her," She said sympathetically.

"Is she alright, please. Is she okay?" I cried.

"I'm sorry, love. She was beaten very badly. We don't think she will make it," She said softly.

"What?" I chocked out.

"I'm sorry sweetie." She said softly. She then came around the desk and pulled me into her arms. "All we can do is pray." She said, whilst rubbing my back. She sat me down in a chair and the boys surrounded around me. She knelt down in front of me making me feel like a child. "I will let you know as soon as I find out, I promise," She said looking up at me. I nodded my head, not trusting my voice. She smiled weakly and stood up and made her way through some double doors. My eyes followed until I could no longer see her baby blue scrubs.

"She's going to make it," Liam said, pulling me into a hug. "She's strong. The strongest girl I have ever met," He whispered.

"What if she doesn't, Liam?" I cried softly. "She's my everything."

"She will. She will," He whispered over and over again rubbing my back soothingly.

Four hours. It's been four hours and I was dying on the inside. I sat on the cool tile floor my eyes glued to the doors. I kept praying for a doctor to come out and give me news. It felt like God answered my prayers because the same nurse from earlier came through the doors quickly. I stood up quickly as she rushed towards me. I looked at her with pleading eyes, just hoping she was going to give me good news of my princess.

"I have good news, but bad news as well," She said, slightly out of breath.

"Okay...." I said, pleading her to go on.

"Good news is she's alive, they managed to get a heartbeat from her," She said. It felt like a weight was lifted off of my chest, I was so thankful to God that she was alive. "Bad news is she's in a coma," She said softly.

"What?" I sputtered. "Oh my god!" I cried out. I felt like I was going to faint, luckily I felt two arms wrap under my armpits holding me up.

"I'm so sorry," The nurse whispered as I was pulled into Liam's chest.

"Wait!" I cried, turning in his hold. The nurse turned around and looked at me sympathetically. "Can I see her? Please?" I asked.

"Yes. Follow me," She waved me over, and we began walking down the long corridors of the sickly white hospital.

I held my breath as she allowed me to enter the room. My heart was racing and I began sweating. I entered the room my eyes searching for her. Laying on a bed, was my angel. She didn't look like the girl I saw three months ago. She had bandages decorating every inch of her except her face. Her complexion was bright red and covered in scratches. She had machines sticking in her arms and an air tube down her throat.

"She broke a few ribs and she will have some permanent scaring on her abdomen and legs." The nurse explained to me as I continued to stare at Skylar.

"Will she wake up?" I managed to choke out.

"We aren't a hundred percent sure," She said. "There's a possibility she could never wake up."

My eyes brimmed with tears again. I was surprised I even managed to have any more tears due to all the crying I'd done today. "Don't worry love, she's strong. She's made it this far." She whispered wiping away my tears that managed to stroll down my cheek. "Just keep praying."

Skylar's POV

I sat in the corner of the room rocking back and forth. What was happening to me? Why was this happening? I felt like I was in a room full of people, screaming at the top of my lungs yet no one heard me. I watched as the cut up my body, sewed it up and put machines in me. They kept talking about the accident and it was breaking my heart.

"Some car lost control and slammed into the girl's side." One of the men said. "The car flipped and the girl and little boy were both ejected. Lucky one, she was. The parents were completely messed up, there was nothing to them."

"The boy was so young, it was terrible he passed," A woman said. "He didn't have many injuries, I guess he just didn't want to fight," She continued.

"That's sad. Okay well, let's get her up to her room and hopefully she will wake up soon." The man said, beginning to lift my body onto a rolling bed. They strapped some machine to the bed and began pushing me towards the door. I quickly got up and stumbled after them. They pushed the bed towards a double doors. I followed after them not knowing where to go or what to do. I continued following them as they pushed the bed into a single room and hung some wires to the wall. They soon left after the woman said a prayer. I sat on the window ledge, staring at my tattered face. I was covered in bandages and wraps. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know what was going on. Why was I here, and there? It didn't make sense!

I heard the door being opened and an older looking woman walked in following a dirty blonde haired boy. I jumped up from my seat, while Niall walked after the woman, his eyes landing on my still body on the bed. He looked like he'd been through hell. He had big black bags under his eyes, his face was wet and his hair was flat probably from running his finger through it so many times.

"Niall." I chocked out. He never looked up at me. His eyes were locked on the figure of me in the bed. His eyes filled with tears as the woman began explaining my injuries.

"Will she wake up?" Niall chocked out.

"We aren't a hundred percent sure," She said softly. "There's a possibility she could never wake up. Don't worry love, she's strong. She's made it this far," She whispered, wiping away the runaway tears on Niall's cheeks. "Just keep praying." She broke from the embrace and left him in the room. He stared at the bed looking so broken. I wanted to run up to him and hug him, pull him in my arms and whisper that I was okay. But I knew I couldn't because no one could see me. He sat in the chair next to the bed and he ran his hands through his hair. He eyed my hand on the bed, grabbed it gently, and squeezed it.

"I'm so sorry, baby." He whispered as he kissed hand my hand, causing a whole new trail of tears to race down his flushed cheeks.
