Chapter Six

Niall's POV

A week. It was now a week since the accident, and a week since my life has been flipped upside down. I spent most of my time sitting along side Skylar's bed, softly strumming my guitar. Nothing had really changed during that week. My baby was still in a coma and her numbers hadn't fluctuated much. I wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing, but at least she hadn't gotten any worse. They boys had visited about once a day, but let me be alone most of the time. Every time they had come to visit, they never failed to remind me that I had to start rehearsals up again today.

Already late, I rushed down the hospital stairs and into the parking lot. I made my way over to my black Range Rover which hadn't moved in about four days when I went home to get a few things for myself. I got into my car and drove carefully towards the direction of the studio where rehearsals were being held. I knew I was going to be late, as rehearsal had already started so I took my time driving there and focused on nothing but the road.

When I got to the studio, I parked and headed into the familiar building and made my way to our rehearsal room. As I was walking down the hallway, I head a familiar song playing from inside the production room. It was my voice belting through the walls...that was my song.

He pulls up to the entrance
He walks right to the front desk
They lead him down a million halls, a maze that's never ending
They talk about what happened but he can barely hear them
He tries to keep a straight face as he walks into the room

He sits by her bedside, holds her hand too tight
They talk about the kids they're gonna have and the good life

The house on the hillside, where they would stay...

Immediately the lyrics of the song hit me and caused memories to come rushing back. The tears I'd been holding back the past few days came rushing out and spilled onto my cheeks. I balled my fists and burst through the door, running into the room. The boys were sitting at the desk, with shocked expressions on their faces. They had found my song. It was them who had been playing it and listening to all my personal thoughts.

“Where did you find that?!” I screamed at them, demanding an answer.

“We...we were just going through past recordings...we didn't recognize the title and were curious as to what it was,” Zayn said hesitantly.

“That is my song! Not yours, and definitely not any of yours to listen to!” I continued screaming at them.

“You wrote that?” Liam said, standing up and cautiously walking in my direction.

“YES! I wrote it!” I screamed, but I wasn't able to stay mad any longer. My tears replaced my anger and I dropped to my knees. Even more tears poured from my eyes and into my already moist hands. I just sat there and cried, not knowing what else there was to do. A warm hand on my shoulder caused me to look up, and I met another pair of blue eyes filled with tears.

"Skylar?" I choked out my eyes widening because of the shock. She was bent in front of me, tears in her eyes, when I mentioned her name her face filled with surprise and fea. I blinked rapidly trying to figure out if I was seeing things. Her figure was gone, the feeling on my shoulder vanished.

"Did you see that?" I gasped, my head turned to the guys.

"See what?" The questioned.

"I swear to God I just saw Skylar." I said rubbing my eyes still crying.
