Chapter 13

My dad's angry gaze focuses on Joe, his mouth in a grim line. I cough and his gaze follows me to me and softens. He's always been so protective, seeing as I'm the youngest out of me, my sister and my brother.

"What are you guys doing here?" I smile awkwardly as I slightly pull away from Joe who looks at me when I do.

"We missed you, plus Graham invited us here to stay the night" my mum says as his gaze flicks between me and Joe. Anybody would not have noticed it, but I knew my mum and I knew she was sizing him up and whether he was good enough for her little girl. My dad's the same.

"I did" Graham says as he comes out the patio doors. Great, a family reunion.

"Did you guys want to come inside? The dinners ready and I've got some news" he smiles.

We all make our way back inside the house, Graham leading the way. Me and Joe keep quiet while we help put the dinners out, making the atmosphere awkward. We all sit down, me, then joe, Graham at the head of the table, my dad opposite Joe, and my mum opposite me. Great.

"Is everything okay with the meal guys?" He asks as we all eat our spaghetti bolognese.

We all hum in approval.

"Olivia's been a real treat here. She's helped out greatly at work which is great for me. And she's also gotten to know Zoe and Joe" he smiles at everyone.

"Thanks for having me" I say, it coming out in a shy whisper. I smile coyly.

"She's become especially close to my son Joseph, and I think he's taken a liking to her" Graham laughs, winking and nudging Joe which sends him bright red in embarrassment.

"Oh and with having her hard working in the summer, I'm recruiting someone else in the village so she can also enjoy her summer here with Joe" he smiles.

I look up to see my dad's jaw locked in tension. I sigh, better tell them.

"Me and Joe are together" I smile weakly up to my mum and dad.

They exchange looks and then my mum buts in. "So soon? But honey, you're coming home next week".

I see Joe physically clench his fists under the table and his mouth tenses. In guessing he doesn't like the idea of me going home.

"Yeah well we can keep it long distance. I'll always come up and see him and he'll come to down to me. Won't you?" I say looking to him. His gaze flicks to mine and he nods.

"But what about University? You spent so long studying to get the best grades possible to get into Uni and you're going to waste it?" My dad joins in now. I look back at him with a frown.

"No I'm not going to waste it. I'm still going" I respond.

He shakes his head. "I very much doubt that you'll have enough time for a boyfriend and school work".

"I can balance the two out" I plead, but feeling myself getting angry.

"Certainly not. It's one or the other, and I'm all for the school work" he dad disagrees.

Joe scrapes his chair as he stands up, probably marking the floor.

"Excuse me" he mumbles as he throws his cutlery on his plate. He walks off to the door, seconds later I hear a slam and then a car start. It revs a few times then skids off.

Graham coughs and rubs the back of his neck. "Sorry about that. I think he's stressed recently".

My dad looks satisfied with winning the pissing contest at who is more protective. I glance at him and shoot him a death stare. He smile falters and I stand up.

"Where are you going?" My mum asks worried.

"To find Joe. Thanks Graham for the meal it was lovely" I speak softer when talking to Graham. He gives me a small smile and I make my way outside the back doors.

I have no idea where he's gone but I know where he will end up.

I've been sitting in the ditch for 3 whole hours and Joe is still a no show. Looks like I don't know him as well as I thought I did.

Just when I'm about to give up and go inside I hear a noise behind me. I look round and see my mum making her way over. I tut and turn my back to her.

"Honey why don't you come inside? It's getting chilly" she asks.

"No thanks" I mutter.

"But it's chilly" she says.

"It's summer" I sigh heavily, showing my frustration. I'm not in the mood.

She pauses then continues. "I'm sorry about earlier, you know what your dad's like".

"Yup" I say, popping the P.

"Honey please speak to me" she whines.

"First of all, I am. I'm just not speaking to dad. Second, you never once stuck up for me in there when dad started. I'd like to be left alone" I say turning towards her.

She nods then walks away. Just before she reaches the door Joe walks out with a crate of beers. He pauses and then nods.

"Evening" he says quietly lifting his beers. I hear my mum say hello and then she walks off into the house.

Joe continues to drink his beer as he walks over to the ditch. Just as he throws the bottle into the woods he notices me.m and smiles.

"Hello stranger" he grins.

"Hey" I smile and then look at the fresh bottle of beer he pulls out. "You getting started already?".

"It's summer, you can drink whenever you want. Plus it's not that early. Did you want one?" He asks and I nod.

He hands me one after he opens the top with a beer top opener. I accept it and begin to swig.

"Where did you get to?" I ask as he sits down.

"I went for a drive around the village. Stopped off at a mates house for a bit then went to the shop to grab some beer. We're planning on all going out to Brighton tonight round Marcus' house for a BBQ if you wanna come?" He asks.

I nod smiling. "Yeah sure. Is the youtube gang going?".

"You're apart of the YouTube gang" he says as he pulls me onto his lap.

"I don't have a YouTube account therefore I'm not" I laugh.

"I'll help you make one" he says as he snuggles into my neck.

"Really?" I say, slightly pulling away to check if he was serious.

"Of course" he nods as stands up. "But first, let's go pack and head to Brighton".

He grabs my hand and pulls my up. I can't wait!

Okay I hope it was okay? I've had writers block quite bad recently as I'm just finishing off my other Joe Sugg fanfic because I don't want them to be identical with the plots and things that happen etc, so I've spent a few days writing down ideas and even though I haven't got the whole story written down I now have something to actually write about!
