Chapter Nine.

{ Autumn }

I finally made it home and opened the door. " MOM I'M HOME " i kicked off my shoes and walked into the living room to see Ethan, Jessie, and Daniel. " What are you guys doing here ? " Ethan looked at me and then looked back to the ground. " What's going on ?" i looked at their facial expression showing pain, hurt, and fear. " U-Uh. Autumn you may wanna sit down " Jessie pointed at a chair in-front of them. I slowly say down and hugged my knee to my chest. We sat there in silence until i broke it " Is anyone going going to tell what's happening " i'm started to get really impatient with them. Nobody dared to say anything. " Well if no one's gonna say anything I'm going to go see my mom now " i started get up only to be stopped by Daniel. I looked at him and he seemed like he was about to cry. I frowned my eyebrows glancing at the other two who were staring at the ground. The front door opened with Torey and Krissy barging in " We got here as soon as we could . Is she alright " Krissy looked at each of us.

 I was confused. " What do you mean is she alright ?" i paused and turned to them. " Where is my mother " i'm trying so hard not to think something bad happened to her. " A-Autumn. " I looked at Jessie who had tears streaming down her face. " S-she was in your dad's office. And " she paused shaking her head not telling me the rest. " And " my voice came out a little shaky. Please tell me she didn't. " No ?" tears started to form as i looked at Ethan. " I'm so sorry " he whispered kneeling confront of me. my mouth opened as a tear slide down my face. I shook my head not believing what i think is happening. I got up and ran to the office. " MOM?" i opened the door to see it was empty. So i ran up the stairs and checked every single room that was in the house. I speed walked back into the living room and everyone started at me in tears. " WHERE IS MY MOTHER !" i demanded and screamed at them. " The ambulance came and got her an hour before you came " Daniel answered with his voice not even above a whisper. That's it couldn't hold it in anymore, i started sobbing and dropping down to my knees. I felt someone grab me and cradled me in their chest. " Shhhh it's okay. She gonna be fine Autumn " he rocked me back and forth while i cried in Ethan's shoulder while he whispering positive things in my ear trying to calm me down and kissed my temple.

    I got up and wiped my tears and slipped on my shoes grabbing my keys " Autumn! " i ran out the door and got in my car starting it and backed out the driveway. I literally went past the speed limit to get to the hospital almost causing several car crashes. Once i got there i quickly got out slamming the door and ran into the San Diego Hospital and hastily walked up to the desk. " I'm here to see Diaz, Gina " i cut the lady off before she could say their greeting. She typed at her computer. " Are you a family member " i nodded and tapped my fingers on the table. " Room 249B " i nodded again saying 'Thank You' and ran down the hall dodging nurses and doctors who were walking to other patients rooms. I rapidly pressed the up button on to the elevator waiting for it to open. I was literally shaking waiting for it. Finally it opened and i pressed the 'B' button. It felt like hours before i got off. I Jogged reading each number trying to find the room that occupied my mother. ' 243, 244, 245, 246,..7..8..249' i looked through the glass window and seen them wrapping a bandage around her torso and head. I opened the door stopping my-self from pushing past them. She had all types of machines hooked up to her it was sickening. " Miss you can't be in here. " a nurse tried to push me out but a woman in a white coat stopped her. " She's okay Rebekah " she came up to me sticking out her hand. " I'm Doctor Tylerson " i slowly shook her hand. " Autumn " " You must the her daughter " i nodded.

" Why don't you come outside with me so we could talk " she walked with me outside of the hospital room in-front of the large window. " Is she gonna be okay ?" i asked her still watching my mom. " Yes she will be fine but. She may have slipped into a temporary coma. " My head snapped in her direction. " For how long " she shrugged her shoulders. " Days, weeks, maybe even a month or so. " i shook my head not believing what i'm hearing. " Autumn..Did she tell you she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer " my eyes widen as i tried to process the information i just received. " No she never mentioned it to me. How bad is it? " Dr. Tylerson looked down at her clipboard. " Stage T3 " my hand flew up to my mouth. That's horrible. " Has she had trouble breathing, painful fevers, or sever swelling in glans " " Yes. But it was only for a couple of days " she nodded writing something down on her clipboard and tucked it under her arm. " It doesn't take long for it to develop Autumn. You're welcome to stay if you'd like. I'll come back to discuss treatment plans for her. " she put a hand on my arm rubbing it a little giving me a sympathetic smile. I didn't say anything but walked back into her room and sat in the chair next to her bedside. I wish he was here with me. I started at her heart monitor watching the green line monitor the rhythm of her heart beats. I'm just glad she's alright even though i am devastated with her for not telling me she was diagnosed with cancer. I was too busy in my own thoughts in didn't notice someone came in. I looked up to see Cole crouching infront of me.

 He actually came. Tears started to form again. " Hey " he whispered holding my face. " You're here " my voice cracked while a tear skipped down my face. He used his thumb to quickly wipe it away. I pulled him into a tight hug burying my head into his neck. I felt his arms wrap around me tighly hugging me back. " Thank you for coming. I really needed someone here with me. " i loosely grabbed his coat while tears poured out of my eyes. He pulled back and kissed me. " Don't need to thank me Autumn " he gave a small smile. I then noticed I am truly in love with Cole. The door opened revealing Mrs. Tylerson and my friends. We all talked about the treatment and told us we could come back in the morning. We all nodded and walked into the parking lot. Cole grabbed my hand entwining our fingers. " Do you want to stay with me tonight. " that came out more like a demand. I nodded and gave Krissy my keys. They all hugged me and gave me optimist smiles. " See ya tomorrow Autumn " Jessie kissed my cheek and left with Daniel. Me and Cole walked to his car and he opened the door and helped me in then closed it after i got in and jogged over to the drivers side getting in him-self. The whole car ride was silent, not like an awkward silence. I Just stared out the window watching the street lights turn on and passed each building. I felt a hand grasp mine. I turned and gave him a pained smile. We finally got to his house and entered the small condo. We both took off our shoes with our hands still laced together and walked upstairs to his bedroom. He helped me take off my jacket and pulled my shirt and slipped the one i slept in the last time i was here. He left to go the bathroom and changed into black sweatpants leaving me to strip out my jeans. I neatly folded my clothes and put them at the edge of the bed and crawled in slaying on my side closing my eyes. I felt the bed dip behind me and an arm wrapped around my waist grabbing my hand. With that we both fell asleep...
