NATASHA POV-

Tony requested me downstairs. Not Y/N. Me. I walked into the meeting room where I saw every avenger barring Y/N. 'This must be about Y/N' I thought.

"Oh, Romanoff have a seat." Tony offered as he pointed to a free seat. I didn't sit down. "You wanna tell me what this is about, Stark?" I said, bitterness showing through the tone of how I said his name. "We know about Y/N." He told me. My heart stopped. "W-what about her?" I lied. "Natasha we know she's a mafia boss." There it was. The thing I feared most to come out of his mouth.

"What's that got to do with me?" I asked. "We know about your friendship, we need you to be careful with her. She's manipulative and she's dangerous. I think you should set some boundaries while we try and figure out what her reason for being here is." He told me. "Tony that's not fair, she can at least remain as my friend, I can't just drop her like that." I tried to reason. "Fine, but if it becomes anything more... I have seen how close you guys are. The way you are at meals and in meetings. Any fool would think you were together. Don't let it get to that. Otherwise both of you have to go." He said. "Tony, it's not like that, I promise. This family means more to me than a criminal." I told him, "I'd give everything to stay here." "As you should." He told me. Of course I already knew why Y/N was here. For me. I wasn't going to tell them that.

I looked over at Wanda who was clearly reading my mind. She shook her head at me, clearly disappointed with what I had said about Y/N being a criminal. I looked at Carol. She was doing the same. Since she was Y/Ns best friend, she must have known something about us and about her. I bit my tongue as my eyes were welling up. "Natasha be careful." Bruce told me, placing his hand on my waist. He obviously saw this as a chance to get me back. I nodded at him and smiled awkwardly. As everyone was leaving, Steve gave me a smile and Clint gave me a concerned look.

Y/N POV-

I headed downstairs for dinner with the rest of the team. It had been a while since we had done that. I sort of missed it. I could already hear the voice of Sam Wilson as I was walking down the corridor.

As I entered the room, everyone went silent. I gave everyone a puzzled look before Steve broke the silence by saying "Y/N come sit down, we got pizza." He was obviously trying to ease the unusual tension. I sat by Natasha whose body stiffened when I sat next to her. Everyone gave her a look before they started talking again. I squinted my eyes, looking around at everyone. Occasionally someone would side-eye me.

"Do you wanna tell me what's going on?" I whispered lowly to Natasha. "I don't know what you mean." She replied bluntly. "Sure." I said sarcastically and slouched backwards in my chair. One hand was in my pocket while the other was resting on the table, fiddling with the ring Natasha gave me. I moved closer to her. She moved away. I went to hold her hand. She moved away. I tried to talk to her but she would pretend to be talking to someone else.

Throughout the whole meal, she avoided me. She kept laughing and flirting with Bruce the whole time. It was as if she was trying to convince someone of something. I chewed my lip thinking about it. Wanda could see I was deep in thought and grabbed my hand. "Are you okay Y/N?" She asked genuinely. I nodded before I got up and left.

I headed straight to my room. I took off my jumper and sat in just a t-shirt, shorts and crew socks.

'Why was Natasha and the team being so weird.' I thought to myself. At that moment Natasha burst through the door. She kissed my lips harshly as if she'd been desperate to do so the whole time. "Natasha get off me." I said as I pushed her away. A look of hurt glossed over her eyes. "Y/N what?" She asked. "Really- you're asking me 'what'?!" I asked, my voice raising. "Please don't yell at me." She pleaded as she flinched. I noticed and said "Why did you flinch, you think I'm gonna hurt you?" I stepped closer to her, seeing her reaction. She stepped back quickly. "N-no, of course not." She claimed.

"All fucking night you've been pushing me away, flirting with Bruce, I thought that was done with Natalia!" I shouted. "Y/N it is, I swear it is." She said as tears streamed down her face. "So answer my question, why were you pushing me away all night, tell me the truth and tell me exactly." I told her. "Y/N I-" I cut her off "NO NATASHA, FUCKING TELL ME!" I yelled. "Tony!" She shouted back through her tears. "Tony and the rest of the team know you're part of the mafia. He wanted to make sure I was careful and that we wouldn't be anything more. He said he would kick both of us off the team so I just obeyed him Y/N. I obeyed him." She sobbed. "What did you tell him?" I asked. "I told him that this family meant more to me than a criminal." She admitted.

"That's what you see me as? A criminal. After everything i've done for you. Everything i've risked for you? I'm a fucking criminal." I spat out, my heart shattered. "No Y/N, I said it so I could stay, I didn't mean it." She told me. "Is that all I mean to you? I opened up to you, I told you everything about me." "Y/N I love you, I do, I swear." She tried to put her hand on my cheek but I slapped it away. "Don't fucking touch me, I'm one of your games." "Y/N please, i'm begging you, I can't lose you." She said as more tears spilled out of her emerald eyes. "Natasha," I started as her heart pounded with fear of what the next words might be, "We're done, get out." I told her.

She let out loud sobs this time as she stood in the middle of my room. She slid down my closed door as she cried into her hands. "No, no, no Y/N please. I can't lose you. I can't ever lose you." She begged. "Natasha if you don't leave my room then I'm leaving this compound for good." I threatened knowing that she wouldn't be able to live with not seeing me again. Last time, I let her find me. I gave up running. But this time, I won't. She left before I could make any move.
