It is freezing. It is cold. I am hungry. I am lost. I am alone. Alone in this dark, cruel, world.

Alaska is not a place to be lost in. There were blizzards every 10 minutes and the snow cuts through your paws. Food was scarce, and the water that you needed was frozen solid.I don't remember how many days its been since I was separated from my pack,my family. I haven't eaten in a long time . I was turning into a skeleton fast . I was a young wolf who needed food and water for strength. I couldn't even walk due to my lack in energy. As I hobbled down through the forest searching for lunch, I heard a sound. I stopped. My ears perked up. It seemed to be a shuffling noise. It was coming from the east. And it was nearby. Without thinking of how tired or hungry I was , I ran through trees, bushes and snow until I met a open plain. It was filled to the brim with snow. It looked like a blanket actually. A blanket of white snow. I scouted the land for my little noise maker when I saw something silver diving into the snow. I stopped and stood still. You could hear my heart pondering throughout Alaska. Was it friend or foe? I took a deep breath and crawled slowly toward the strange creature.

With just a few steps closer, the silver creature's head popped out of the snow with something in its mouth. I took a few steps closer to see better. It appeared to be a mouse of some sort. The creature squeezed its mouth shut, making the mouse creature ooze with blood. It whipped its head back to look at me. I whimpered. It's golden eyes seemed to tear right through my skull. We stared at each other for a few moments that felt like hours. The creature turned its head and scurried into the forest. I just sat there for a few moments ,thinking of what I had just witnessed. The creature seemed to duck into the ground to find a mouse-like creature that had been trapped under the snow. So that's how that creature finds FOOD. The mouse creature has to delectable.Something that I can even eat too!! I looked at the ground beneath me. I lowered my head closer to the soft snow. I listened. When I thought that I had heard something, I dove right in. Cold ice scratched my face and the snow went into my eyes. I took deep breaths, hoping that I would catch something .

And I did.

I pulled my head out and squeezed my jaw shut. I could feel blood oozing between my teeth. Without another thought ,I quickly sucked my meal into my throat and down into my stomach . It was heavenly. Finally something I can eat and is easy to catch. I repeated this process numerous times until I was full. I took another breath as I felt the food settling inside me. I could even feel my strength returning. Then something caught my eye. It was the silver creature from before! It looked at me , gave me a nod of its head, and and scurried back into the forest.
