My leg had started to heal a few days later. I could walk a bit more easily, without any pain .The hunters didn't catch up to me or the silver creature.... I wondered for a moment. Could that be the creature from before? I shook my head as I thought that. No of course not. Why would a creature who needed to survive just like me , give up his life in trying to save a strange wolf well, like me? I guess it doesn't matter now. The creature is probably dead. With that ruckus It was creating, no animal could've survived being so close to the hunters.

Anyway I was still starving. My stomach grumbled like the growl of mountain lion. My throat ached from thirst. I was too tired and weak to keep digging for mice. I was getting sick of them to. No wolf could survive on just mice for food and snow for water. I spotted a dead tree just up ahead. Maybe I can rest there for awhile.I stopped in my tracks.
Leaning on the trunk of the tree was a little.... Human.....girl !!!

My breath was cut short. Was it another hunter?! Wait, no it couldn't be. This girl was far too young to even hold a rifle. But something was unusual about her. She was covered in bear fur with a necklace made up of teeth of an animal, and beads made of glass. Her light brown skin looked pale and her eyes were filled with tears. Her left ankle was swollen and purple. Poor thing. She must have twisted it. The girl opened her mouth but no sound came out. She began to cough. I just stare at her. My own heart started to twist. She must be alone and lost ...like I am. I suddenly had a shift in thinking. I wanted to help her. I couldn't bear to leave a living creature by herself, alone . I made up my mind. I was going to help her return to her family, her pack. I approached her ever so gently. She spotted me and gasped. I stopped. Tears were coming out as a waterfall in her eyes. She hugged her knees tighter and squeezed hey eyes shut.i began to move again.

When I was close to her, I laid my body down by her feet.
A few moments later , the girl looked up and looked down on me.
She just sat there and stared. Then she gulped and slowly placed her hand on my head. She rubbed it. It felt nice. She kept doing this until she started to laugh. She rubbed my head with affection. It felt like ages since I had any love. I stood up and nodded my head toward my back. The girl looked at me in wonder then got the message. She stood up on her stubby legs and grabbed my back with her small hands. She hoisted herself onto me and wrapped her arms around me neck, tightly. I felt so happy.
Ok,now I just have to find her family.
Easier said than done.

I began to sniff the air. I smelled human...and their close by!! I started to gallop across the woods, following the scent. The little girl laughed each time she bounced up. It must have been an hour or two until I saw smoke. Perfect. The camp was nearby. I began to run faster and faster until I made my way to the front of the camp. There were at least 200 humans staying in that camp. As I walked in, everyone of those humans stopped to look at me. They stood still as statues. The little girl looked around and hopped off. She stood by me, resting her hand on my neck. The humans began to whisper to themselves.

Then they became quiet when a large man came up to me from amongst them. He was tall with a fur coat and moose Antlers strapped onto his shoulders. He appeared to be wearing a hat made out of feathers. And 2 golden earrings hung from his earlobes. The world seemed to hold its breath when the man came close to me. To my surprised he bowed his head low to me. The humans looked at him with surprised then followed him. Each human went in their knees and bowed their heads low to me. The little girl giggled. I was stunned.Suddenly, a lovely woman came from the crowd came running toward us, with open arms. The little girl squealed and hobbled up to her. The both embraced themselves In a warm hug. That was all the proof I needed. I did it. I found the little girl's pack. Now I just have to find my own.
The tall man spoke to one the humans in a strange language. That human rushed into a cloth house and bright back some meat. He then laid it in front of me. I quickly devoured it , savoring each bite. The human brought more meat and the little girl brought me some water in a large bowl.

With every bite and sip I took , the humans smiled. This must be their way of thanking me.To tell the truth I stayed at the camp for awhile. I frolicked with the children and walked around the camp, sucking up every sight I saw. I felt like part of the family here. I could even stay here forever.

As I walked by their tents ,I noticed on a piece of cloth near one of the houses, was a drawing of a pack of wolves. They were running as one. A mother must have made it for her child. I suddenly remembered my mission. I had to find my own pack. I had to go,now.
I dashed out of the camp. I could hear voices behind.I took a look back to see the tall man and the little girl waving bye to me. The big man nodded at me. I nodded my own head at them and disappeared into the icy forest.
That is one pack that I'll never forget.
