Author Note: So, I thought I'd give everyone a gift for the new year. These were the first words I wrote for Adventures of a Lifetime, the original draft for the story until I decided that I wanted to focus more on my OC, to let her have time to settle into the world of Doctor Who. You can see a lot of words that were taken and placed elsewhere in the main story. This was before I decided on how Marlene would enter the universe and why, which I then rewrote her encountering the Doctor in a different episode, which you might be able to guess if you've read the first chapter which I might feature as the next AU if anyone's interested. This collection of one-shots won't be updated regularly, it'll end up probably once a year as a gift to everyone since I need to focus on my actual stories. Also, I came up with an AU that I want to turn into a story but that'll only be uploaded after I've finished and posted the third story in 'The Adventures of Space and Time' series. Because it will be filled with spoilers and it'll be teased in the actual story once I reach that point. Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading this!

Synopsis

The alterative universes are vast and time doesn't always work the same way in each. There are many what if's with Lena involved, but what if we could see these events come to life? One-shots.

1: The Original Idea

She hummed along as she looked about the darkening street, almost home. She stretched her only free gloved covered hand out in front of herself, she wiggled her fingers for a moment before stuffing them back into her red coat pocket. It was unexpectedly chilly, the rain thundered down onto the pavement. She strolled along with a skip in her step, as she raised her shoulders and buried the bottom of her face in the collar of her scarf. Long wet curls blew into her face in the slight wind, so she turned her head in the direction of the wind causing the strands to move over her shoulder instead. A force suddenly propelled her forwards, and her feet moved quickly to try and regain her balance.

"Huh?" She blinked taken back for a moment awakening from her thoughts as she looked down to see that she'd tripped on a piece of uneven pavement. She frowned down as she shook her heeled boot to rid herself of the pain in her toes. "Geez... why does this always happen to me?" Groaning she reached a hand out to steady herself on the wall of someone's house, she didn't bother looking at it until she was suddenly jolted. She turned wide eyes to see her hand sinking into a crack on the wall, she blinked bewildered at what was happening. Was she really seeing this?

"What on earth?" She tried to step away for the wall, but it wouldn't let her go. Her hand sunk further inside as goosebumps raised across her skin, she couldn't feel hand as it disappeared. Worry gripped her as the crack started to grow, light started to seep through it, more blinding than oncoming headlights. It dazzled her for a moment as she blinked away the black spots that appeared in her vision, the brief moment was over when she felt herself being tugged forwards until her entire arm up until her shoulder could no longer be seen.

"Help!" She cried out, tears leaked out of her eyes as she tried to step away again in a hopeless attempt of getting away. What was happening? "Please! Someone help me!"

Help!

She mentally cried out, something within her seeking guidance in a desperate plea. The crack on the wall somehow grew larger, a sob escaped her as she realised it was going to swallow her whole. What was going to happen to her? Something twitched in the back of her mind as if this reminded her of something but she couldn't think on that at the moment. It was taking all of her will power not to collapse on the spot and give in to her helplessness. Goosebumps raised across every inch of her skin, her hair felt on end and something seared in her chest. The pressure on herself built, like a wave stretching until she thought she would combust. Her heartbeat pounded, sounding overly loud over any other noise, she could hear herself screaming out of her mouth and inside her own mind.
