Chapter 5
I wish everyone a healthy and new year! <3
----
"You what?!" your mother exclaimed in irritation when you were invited to a barbecue at their house.
"We bought a house a few days ago. It's here in our town, but it's in the middle of nowhere. But we can still see each other in a matter of seconds. I can create portals and you can come to us immediately. We'll be moving in next week. We've also got ourselves a new car - Jin-Woo his own and me."
Your family was speechless. "Where... did you get the money?" Mandy exclaimed in surprise.
"Hm? From our missions or monster hunts. Or the high-level items we sold in the dungeons. Before we came here, we converted the money into euros - my entire fortune and some of Jin-Woo's. It's enough for us to never actually have to work again, but somehow I still can't. I will soon be starting my job again; Jin-Woo will also be looking for a job and Gilyeong will be going to school. We'll lead a normal life so far, except that we'll still be training a lot," you explained. They all looked at you, still stunned. "But seriously... isn't this too boring for you...?" your mother mumbled.
"Huh? No, not really, mom," Jin-woo began, forced to call your mother that.
"In my world, it would actually be completely normal. If the dungeons hadn't appeared back then and many of us hadn't been awakened, everyone we've met would have nothing to do with us and each of them would be working a normal job."
He paused for a moment and then continued: "And if I had drunk the cup of reincarnation, I would have returned my world to its origins anyway - before the time of the dungeons. So no, it won't be boring. Maybe the first time, since we're really only used to fighting; but for most of our lives, we'd been living normally too." He smiled gently at you and Gilyeong.
"Besides, I'm always happy when I can stay with my family. It will never be boring; Beru and the others are always there too. It will be a bit boring for my shadows, but they will get used to it - Beru even more so. He's very flexible that way."
He kissed your head, and you smiled softly back; at the same time, you were a little irritated by his sudden need to cuddle. Was it because of Apollo's words? You also noticed that Jin-Woo was ignoring your sister Steffi as much as possible. Had he noticed that your sister was interested in him? Was he trying to stop you from getting angry again?
You smile gently and murmur softly, "I won't lose you again..." Unconsciously, only Jin-woo heard those words; his eyes widened in surprise. He hugged you tightly and whispered, "You won't lose me again." You blushed and closed your eyes, smiling; your hand placed on his.
"Let's have a toast!" Steffi suddenly exclaimed and held up a glass of alcohol; the others did the same. So did you and Gilyeong with his juice. You toasted and drank to the fact that you were back; to the fact that you had a child; to the fact that you had a great boyfriend by your side; and to your engagement.
Conclusion - there was a lot of catching up and the alcohol flowed freely. "Gilyeong, are we playing soccer?" asked your youngest nephew Lenny, who is ten years old and your sister Steffi's son. "Hm," the brown-haired Gilyeong nodded before putting down his juice and standing up. "Me too!" shouted Lenny's little sister Mia, also Steffi's daughter, and followed the two of them. Yatsufusa trotted behind and watched the three of them play.
At some point, Mia lost interest in the game and cautiously approached the wolf. His purple eyes met her blue ones, causing her to flinch briefly. "You don't need to be afraid. You're part of my master's family, so I'll protect you," Yatsufusa said softly as his long tail stroked her face. She laughed and snuggled up to him, whereupon Yatsu laid his head closer to her legs. Mia lay down on top of him and smiled broadly. "You're so soft and big! Can I ride you like a pony?" she asked, giggling.
"Of course. You're welcome to ride on my back," Yatsu replied willingly. Without hesitation, she sat down on his back while he rose and walked leisurely through the garden. Lenny watched in awe and also wanted to ride along, which Yatsufusa allowed. He sat down behind his sister and held her tight. 'Faster, Yatsu!' Mia called enthusiastically.
Yatsufusa looked questioningly over at you. "Don't look at me like that, you have to ask Steffi," you called to them. Everyone turned to Steffi as Yatsu walked towards her with the children on his back.
"Well, it should be okay here in the garden, but you won't be able to go fast here; the garden is too small," Steffi said thoughtfully.
"Then we'll go to a larger area? At our new home? Mom, Dad, would that be okay?" Gilyeong asked hopefully and also sat down on the back."Yatsu, make yourself bigger!" Gilyeong urged him, whereupon Yatsufusa returned to his normal size.
"Woooow!" Mia exclaimed in surprise, while Yatsufusa remained somewhat hunched over so as not to attract too much attention."Well, I don't have a problem with that," you said hesitantly, 'but I can't decide for my nephew and niece. Even though I know they'll be safe with you."
"I can come too,' Beru offered, suddenly appearing next to them, which startled Lenny and Mia."I'm coming too," said Julian, your oldest nephew, who is 16 years old and Mandy's oldest son."Me too then!" added Amy, Julian's eleven-year-old sister.
Steffi finally sighed, "Well... if Julian is coming... and Beru... But take good care of my children!" She cast a warning glance around.Yatsufusa respectfully bowed his head in agreement.
"I will protect them with my life," Beru said solemnly before disappearing into the shadow of Yatsufusa. 'Good, then I'll open a portal,' you were about to say when Gilyeong interrupted you. "No, Mama, we'll ride on Yatsufusa. Don't worry, we'll be careful not to be seen. But you have to hold on tight!" your son said, full of joy. He loved riding on Yatsufusa, especially when it was going fast.
"Wait, I'll secure you again anyway," you said and created golden chains around your siblings' children, who then disappeared. 'Then go, but don't get caught. We can't ask the gods again to erase the memories of what happened.' Gilyeong and Yatsufusa bowed briefly before the wolf leaped onto the arbor and then disappeared into the sky.
"W-where is he?" Steffi exclaimed in surprise. 'Higher up in the sky, until they find a path where they can run. For a short time, Yatsufusa can walk on the air,' you explained, taking a sip of your raspberry Bacardi. It was delicious and tasted fantastic.
"Jin-Woo, have another!" Steffi laughed and poured him another drink. She grinned to herself at the thought that she might be able to get him drunk – in the hope of an unforgettable night with him. Jin-Woo thanked her politely and didn't mention that he couldn't get drunk at all – any more than you could.
"Are you worried?" Jin-Woo asked you gently and you leaned against him. 'Mm-hm, about our house. Not that Beru and Yatsu will stage a show fight... our property is so beautiful...' you whined almost a little.
Jin-Woo laughed softly: "Ahhh! Jin-Woo!" you exclaimed in a good mood. "Let's go into the pool! It's warm," you complained playfully."Are you coming in too?" you asked the others present.
"I'm coming in," Steffi said immediately, enthusiastic, while the others refused. Your smile faded a bit at the thought of their intentions.
