Chapter 20

Hermione's POV

I woke up feeling bitter. To say I was surprised that Malfoy (that's right, back to last name basis) had kissed Parkinson was an understatement. I thought for sure it would be me! Ugh, I sound like a total bitch right now but I don't care. I guess I had been wrong in thinking Malfoy actually liked me. He was probably just being polite, humoring me.

All that stress before the party, and he likes Parkinson! I couldn't help but feel annoyed. I mean, he was doing all the things you do when you're interested in someone. Flirting, compliments, letting your eyes linger where they probably shouldn't. But no, it was all just a game to him. Merlin knows he's shagged half of the school, he could have any girl he wanted. I felt extremely stupid for believing he actually wanted me.

I tried not to think about it anymore. Then I remembered today is the Slytherin, Gryffindor game. And thanks to the little deal I made with Malfoy, I would have to wear Slytherin colors. Great.

I changed into my robes, and made my way down to the Quidditch field. I tried to avoid the weird looks I was getting, this was the second time I'd worn Slytherin colors to a Gryffindor Slytherin game, and people seemed to think I'd gone crazy. Boy, this would be some hell of a game.

Draco's POV

As my team started out on the field, I noticed a small spot of green in the Gryffindor stands. I couldn't help but grin as I remembered daring her to wear my tie to the game.

I was so close to flying in her direction but the loud noise of the whistle stopped any of my potential advances in her direction.

The game had been going well enough but Gryffindor was currently in the lead by one point. One of my teammates, whose name I had yet to learn, was so close to scoring a goal when the whistle cut in again. Ugh, half time! Although this would mean I get to talk to Hermione....

Dumbledore's POV

"Minne we must prepare! Pass the flags to the children at once! If they ask questions simply hit them with the killing curse. That otta show 'em."

"Albus! We cannot just sacrifice a child for your own strange obsession with two students getting together."

"I am the Headmaster, I can do whatever I please! Now go quickly. They need to be distributed before the end of the game!"

She sighed, shaking her head. "Fine, you win. I'll get the flags to the children."

"Good." I smiled like the Grinch.

Hermione's POV

There he was, flying right towards me. What the hell did he need? He had already embarrassed me by kissing Pansy at the party. Now he was going to make a fool out of me in front of my peers? I watched as he zoomed closer, my heart beating faster with every yard he moved towards me. Suddenly he was here, floating in front of me. Great.

"What's with the resting bitch face Granger?"

"What's with the smirk Malfoy?"

"Oh nothing, my day has just been going great."

"And why is that? Your team is losing."

"Just seeing you with my colors while you're surrounded by Gryffindor's. Makes me feel pretty special." He smirked.

"Well then," I pulled off the scarf, "You can have it!" I threw the scarf at him angrily. How dare he think he could just waltz over here? After he led me on only to give Parkinbitch the grand finale. Was I a joke to him?

"Woah there, I guess somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed. What's the matter Granger? Did I do something to offend you?" He asked, having the nerve to actually look sincere.

"You know what's wrong." I spat at him. He still looked confused.

"No, enlighten me." He crossed his arms.

"Why don't you just ask Parkinson!" I yelled furiously. Honestly, do I have to spell it out? A look of understanding dawned on his face.

"Ohhhh, is that what this is about? Look Hermione, I don't have any interest in Parkinson. I just kissed her so I wouldn't have to embarrass the actual person I wanted to kiss." He explained scratching the back of his neck.

"Well, why didn't you just kiss them anyway? Embarrassment never stopped you before."

"I think she's still in love with her ex. And he was there. I didn't want to ruin any chance they had by making him jealous." Draco said uncomfortably. I felt a pain of guilt for being so upset with him.

"Oh, I'm sorry Draco. I didn't know. This is rather embarrassing but I was mad because I kind of... like you." I whispered the last part, but judging by the smirk on his face, he still heard it.

"What was that Granger? Were you jealous?" He teased me. The blush crawling onto my cheeks just widened his Grinch-like grin. Oh Merlin, what have I gotten myself into?

"Oh shove off Malfoy, it's not like you're any better." I rolled my eyes, at his smug expression.

At last, our lips met. At first, I was stiff, but I soon found the allure of Malfoy simply irresistible. I heard distant cat-calls and wolf-whistling as we started full-on making out. That was when I was reminded of my whereabouts and reluctantly pulled back.

As we caught our breath I noticed Dumbledore was standing right next to us, waving extremely creepy flags that read 'DRAMIONE FOR LIFE BITCHES!!!'. What was even creepier was the Cheshire cat smile on 'Ol Dumbley's saggy face. He could probably give the Grinch a run for his money.

"YES, I KNEW IT!! MINNIE, PAY UP!!" I heard Dumbledore screech in excitement. Honestly, what was wrong with this man's brain?

I looked shyly at Draco. "So uh, that just happened." I laughed nervously. He just smiled. Not a smirk-an an actual, genuine smile.

"Malfoy! Get your ass over here! You can snog the bookworm later!" Zabini yelled at Draco, though I could've sworn I saw him wink at us. Draco rolled his eyes. He was about to fly back into the game when...

"Don't even think about it boy, I have been waiting 8 years for this. You don't just kiss a gal then run away! I know you're a Slytherin but try not to be so cowardly!" Dumbledore reached out to grab Draco while saying his little speech. I snickered as I heard murmurs of agreement from the crowd.

"Uh-okay then, Granger," Draco turned back to me. "Would you like to go out with me at some point in the foreseeable future?" He asked politely, to which I laughed.

"Why yes Malfoy, I cordially accept your offer," I respond in the same weird polite tone.

"See, that's how it's done, Mister Malfoy. Honestly, you young people have no idea how to court someone." Dumbledore muttered, though he still had the same giddy look on his wrinkly old face.

"Let's give it up for Dramione! Draco finally had the guts to ask Hermione out! Whooooo!" Zabini cheered, as did the rest of the students. Even Harry was smiling.

"Whelp, now that we're dating I hope you don't get sick of me," I said jokingly to Draco.

"Hermione, I'll never get sick of you. I love you." Draco said, smiling affectionately.

"I love you too."
