After quitting his job Oliver didn't have it easy tough. He still couldn't find another job. Getting more frustrated after each interview and losing hope in himself and this world. Why could anything just work out is what he was thinking. How are the others doing it? Whilliam was looking in a worse shape day by day and making him reflect again and again that maybe he should not have quitted his job and just suffer that humiliation. He even thought that maybe it was more easy if he just died back then when he was a baby. Whilliam was having problems with alcoohol and Mellisa couldn't eat many things because she would feel sick soon after but she was still doing it and saying in whispers "What can I do...what can I do...I'm so sick...what do I do?" every night after eating something she wasn't supposed to. Alex being away and working as a butcher aboard and him having no friends Oliver was becoming darker and darker. His inner self struggling with identity problems and inner demons trying to take over. He became less and less talkative and he couldn't even form a conversation that easily. He was screaming inside. Screaming for some kind of help for some kind of release. He wanted to find a place where he belonged to. Where he wasn't judged by others for what he had become. He became full of paranoia and felt like everyone was looking down on him including his family members for he was the only one amongst his cousins and brother that actually finished a college and still he was the only one without a proper job.
He felt like he was slowly but surely approaching...no, being pushed toward a cliff. And it was a cliff so high that even the highest mountain looked like a small pebble compared to it. There was no bottom down there...only darkness.
And that was when it happened. A day that started like any other but it was meant to be different. It seemed like someone that was pulling the strings behind the scene pulled so hard that it made the string break in pieces. It was the night of a holy day. People in this small neighborhood were quite religious and today was the day they were paying respects to their God and they had to come in the evening. It was the day when Oliver decided to get out of his house after much deliberation and a scolding from his parents that told him that he has become like a shut in and barely getting out of the house. Oliver didn't have many friends as he cut ties with most of them and he wasn't going to the city because it was costing him money to do that which he didn't had that many left anyway.
So in the end he did took his parents advice and gone to Church not long after they left. He did took his time and didn't go with them at first. Thinking if it was worth going or not. Plus he had a bad feeling about it but in the end he brushed it off thinking he did really become like a shut in and the reason he was feeling bad about it was because he didn't had to many interactions with others for quite some time now. So he said some bad words then realizing he was going to church he begged for forgiveness then left the house. It was winter so it was already a bit dark outside and a bit cold but nothing to worry about it was what Oliver thought. Even tough he didn't like cold weather it wasn't bothering him that much.
Reaching the church he saw there were a lot of people that he knew outside the church but didn't see most of them for more then 10 years now. Most used to be his colleagues during middle school. He wasn't liking any of them so he chose to pretend like he didn't know them and find a spot farther away from there were he could hear the priest in peace. But one of those people seemed to have recognized him and came after him inside the church. Talking in whispers he told Oliver "Oliver...is that you mate? I know it's you. Come on you don't recognize your old friends anymore or what? Come outside with me man. Everyone else is here too. We didn't see you for so long." He whispered that while practically dragging Oliver with him towards the exit. Oliver was thinking 'Well that exactly why I didn't want to come here...' while approaching the group."Who did you brought with you this time Marius?" Asked a petite girl who's name was Carmen. She had brown eyes and black hair with a beautiful face. She too was an ex classmate of Oliver which he didn't interact with very much.
"Who else. Don't you guys recognize this guy anymore? I almost didn't as well but my eyes never betray me. This is Oliver guys! Did you forget him already?"
"Ahh! Really? Oliver is that you? You grew so big and look so mature now...also have you been working out? You were so thin in the past. Is almost like you are a different person now!" Said Carmen while approaching Oliver and giving him a hug.
"Tsk! Mature my ass. He is the same lesser he was years ago. He might have gained a bit of muscle but he is still the same stupid shy guy in the corner that I was picking on when we were little." Ravan who was there amongst the group as well gave Oliver a disgusted look and a teasing smile. Some of the guys there started snickering while others looked like they found the situation awkward only having a few of the girls and Marius shake their heads in disapproval.
" I see you didn't change at all and are still the same asshole that I knew in the past Ravan." said Oliver with a disgusted look of his own but there was no smile on his face. You can almost feel the hate and rage in the air and the others felt quite shocked at the sudden change. This was a gathering for prayers and forgiveness not a place to start a fight in. Even if it was outside the building.
"Heh! So you did change a little bit huh? Now you got the balls to talk back. Let me ask you this tough if you really changed. What do you do for a living man? How come we didn't see you around all those years? Heard you went to college. What are you doing now with that ended?"
Oliver just kept looking at Ravan without asking.
"No words? I tell you what. I was curious so I looked into it. It looks like once you finished your crappy college 2 years ago you did almost nothing until now. You searched for some jobs but thanks to a little someone that's got a few connections you weren't accepted in any of them." Ravan looked at Oliver in the eyes with an evil smile on his face when he saw the look of realization on his face and continued "Well you see I felt so sorry for you that in the end I told one of my friends to accept you at his pool but as nothing comes for free I told him to help 'push' you a little around. You didn't quit as fast as I tough you would so I decided to leave you alone and even told my friend to give you half the minimum wage you were promised at the interview. I'm quite generous right? My friend said he could use the hard labor after all. But who could have guessed that he would call me back one day later and tell me you left in the middle of work and blocked his phone number. That one was really funny and unexpected to say the less. I thought you would be more then happy to even get paid in the first place. Heard your family is quite in the pinch and could use the money. I guess you did change a little in the end and have chosen your pride over your family. Hahaha!"
