Maggie
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Maggie's alarm clock blared as she fumbled to turn it off. Rolling out of bed, she walked to the bathroom and brushed her teeth. She threw on a shirt and some jeans and sulked down the stairs.
"Fell asleep late again as usual didn't you?" her mom chided, "You really have to stop doing that."
"I know, I know," Maggie murmured. She opened the fridge and poured herself a glass of juice. Her mom pulled it right out of hand as soon as she finished, immediately washing it along with the rest of the dishes.
"Go on, you're going to be late."
"Yeah bye mom," Maggie said. She grabbed her bag and walked out of the door. Looking to her left, she saw him skating out towards her.
"Hey Peter," she called out with a little wave.
"Morning," he replied, immediately followed by, "You look tired."
"Thanks that's so kind of you."
"I know I'm the best."
She walked while he skated to school. He could have gone faster, but he always skated slow enough so that they could talk. Sure they were late sometimes, but their complaint filled morning talks were like tradition.
At school, Maggie waited while Peter pinned up photos that he took of the debate club. Suddenly, there was a flash of orange and a small thump as a basketball soared through the air directly at Peter's face. A fit of laughter erupted and Peter and Maggie turned their heads in it's direction.
"Morning Flash," Peter declared dryly.
"Morning Parker. Davis," he said while walking by with his stupid lapdogs. God Maggie hated those little assholes.
Turning to Peter she asked, "You okay?"
He nodded and started skating down the hall.
They went to the courtyard together. Peter paused for a moment. Maggie was startled for a moment, but a sinking feeling overtook her stomach. It was her. Gwen Stacey. Though he had never admitted it, Maggie knew he liked her. But that didn't bother her. Why would it?
Maggie teared her eyes away from Gwen to see a group of students crowded around a table. Nudging Peter to get his attention, they both headed for the gathering. They pushed their way to the front of the crowd to see Flash holding some freshman named Gordon upside down. His face was being smashed into a slice of pizza and all the kids were chanting Eat it! Eat it! Eat it!
"Hey, Parker, come on. Get a picture of this." Flash said.
"No, I'm not gonna take a picture of it." Peter replied, then added, "Put him down, man."
"Take the picture," Flash insisted.
"Put him down, Flash."
"Take the picture."
"Put him down, Eugene!"
Everyone grew quite and anger filled Flash's face. With a swift SMACK! he had sent peter flying into the ground."Come on! Get up Parker," he taunted.
He kicked Peter twice more in the gut.
"Still not taking the picture." Peter replied.
"Stay down Parker," Flash said and then to the everyone, "Who wants one more?"
He walked back towards Peter trying to hit him again, but Gwen stepped between them and started asking Flash something about homework. Maggie crouched down next to Peter. His features were relaxed, but she could still see the pain in his eyes.
"Are you ok?" she asked.
"Me? Oh yeah no I'm fine." he lied, "My camera however..."
He picked up his now destroyed camera and looked more hurt because of it's destruction than the fact that he just got his ass whooped.
"Ok, but you're going to the nurse."
"No, I'm fine."
"I don't care."
"I hate you."
"Sure you do."
I hope you guys enjoyed. Don't forget to leave a like and comment if you did. This was kind of a short chapter so I will post another one very soon. Happy New Years!!
