Today I woke up feeling energized, filled with a new sense of determination. I grabbed my phone off the charger to check the time and found that it was only 3:30 a.m. Well dang, I thought I slept a lot later than that. I may as well use my extra time to start figuring out how I can prepare myself for the entrance exams to get into UA. I know I can easily study enough to pass the written portion, but I have no clue what to expect for the practical aspect.

I suspect combat of some sort, but whether or not it be against actual people I have no clue. UA certainly has the budget to hire people to fight future students, but it seems like a possible liability especially if said kids don't have a handle on their quirks. Maybe teachers? But aren't they all pros? That would probably be unfair unless they base grading on small things rather than actually winning. Hmm... Rescue work would be nice, but unlikely, it isn't commonly taught in middle school and would leave many at a disadvantage.

An obstacle course is possible, but that feels too underwhelming for the greatest hero school in Japan. So I guess I'm back to where I started, it is most likely combat based. If they want to be liable for as few accidental injuries as possible, while also ensuring their staff is not at fault for any... That doesn't leave much, we are either fighting each other, or we are fighting some kind of robots. Both are possible and have potential dangers... I'm not sure which I'd rather. While robots are unfairly advantaged to physical quirks, I would be disadvantaged regardless without a quirk.

I guess that's just why I have to work harder than everyone else, though I do think it would be unlikely I could win against a larger robot regardless of training. Metal is sadly a bit more durable than I am. Regardless I still need to train, even if I fail the practical I could get into the general education course and get transferred.

Now for a plan. Muscle-wise I am... lacking, soI definitely need to tone up there. My stamina is actually decent because of how often I run from people. I'm unsure about flexibility, but considering I have done little to work on it I can only assume it isn't the best. And general knowledge of fighting... well... none. SO I guess I have a lot to work on.

I think I should look into a self-defense course first. I can take a punch, or several, but I want to know how I can dodge or prevent them. This might also help me at school, so I take it as an overall win! I'll have to ask my mom about paying for it, but I don;t think she would mind me being away for longer.

Wait, what time is it? Maybe she is awake now. I checked my phone again and almost dropped it. 5:30 a.m.! How was I thinking about all that for two whole hours?! Today is Saturday so I don't have to worry about school, but I do need to catch my mom soon to ask her about the classes before work.

As I left my room I heard noises coming from the kitchen. Walking in I found my mom hurriedly making herself coffee. She didn't react after spotting me, instead she just spoke, "Izuku hon, I need you to make breakfast for me today, I was called in early for work and don't have the time."

"Of course, could I ask you something though?" She looked at me slightly annoyed for a second before quickly masking it with a smile, "Yes, but after you've made breakfast. I need to get ready now." With that she quickly walked to her room. "Oh... ok." I whispered to myself. Breakfast was easy to Cook, I decided on just making eggs because it could be done in only a couple of minutes... I also maybe don't know how to make much else.

I set both of our plates on the table and sat down to eat as my mom came out of her room, now dressed in a nice shirt and a pencil skirt. She sat down in front of her plate without addressing me and began eating. "So... umm... I was wo-wondering, if you allow it of course, um... can I start going to a self-defense course?" I looked down at my uneaten food, scared I'd ask for too much.
