The next day, after much convincing, I finally got Shinsou to eat lunch with Kacchan and his friends! It was a little awkward at first as Shinsou isn't the most talkative... or kind person, but I think he will fit in soon!
"Hey guys! This is my friend Shinsou, he's in the general education course with me." I gestured to the tense boy next to me. The whole table (minus Kacchan) smiled brightly, welcoming him with waves. "This is Mina, the yellow haired one is Kaminari, that's Kirishima, the boy with the black hair is Sero, and the scowling one is Kacchan!" I pointed to each as I listed them for Shinsou.
"It's nice to meet you!" The entire table (minus Kacchan again) was very accepting of the new addition and tried to welcome him as much as possible.
"So Shinsou, you look like you must be pretty popular with the girls, eh?" Kaminari asked with a playful smirk.
"Um. No." Shinsou seemed uncomfortable by the question. "I wouldn't say I'm very popular with anyone." The table grew a little tense with his response, but surprisingly Kacchan was the one to break it.
"Tch. Must be why you get along with the nerd." He smirked.
"Kacchan! I suppose that's not necessarily wrong, but you still don't have to be so mean about it." I mumbled out with a small pout.
"That isn't true." My head shot up to look at Shinsou as he spoke with more certainty than he had since lunch started. "We get along because you showed me the error of my prior beliefs and I respect your view on things." I blushed a little at his words, still not used to people thinking highly of me.
"Wow, that sounds super serious!" Mina shouted excitedly.
"Yeah! What brought on a conversation like that?" Shinsou and I both tensed, but I decided to try and take the attention off of him, knowing it would make him uncomfortable to speak on the issue.
"Nothing really, just yesterday we had to do introductions to the class..." I noticed Kacchan tense this time as I trailed off for a moment trying to word this without bringing up quirks.
"How would that lead to anything too serious though? Introductions seem super chill!" Kaminari questioned, seemingly even more confused.
"Oh! Um, well it was pretty chill? But one of the kids didn't seem to like me very much I guess. Then there was a pretty intense... discussion between us?" I spoke unsurely and I could tell the entire table seemed to be a little on edge, having accidentally brought up multiple sore subjects already. Kacchan huffed loudly.
"Oi, did one of those extras give you trouble?" My eyes widened a little at his response, not expecting to care so much.
"N-no! Nothing like that." I waved my hands to try and stop him from making a scene or doing something reckless.
Shinsou tilted his head in confusion. "Yes they did." His eyebrows were furrowed, not understanding my lie. I groaned.
"Ok, fine! Yes he tried to give me trouble..." I trailed off, but smirked a little remembering the conversation and how Ectoplasm even backed me up. "But I can assure you that he has learned his lesson. And I'm fine!" I added in hopes of calming the crackling of Kacchan's hands.
"Tch. Whatever. Just know I'll kick that extra's ass if he tries anything." He went back to angrily eating his lunch while the rest of the table looked shocked and maybe upset?
"Well I'm glad that you worked things out! Super manly of you." Kirishima spoke kindly as ever. "Hey Shinsou, do you want to transfer into the hero course as well?" Thankfully changing the subject.
"Yes. I plan on using the sports festival to make myself known. Midoriya has also agreed to help me train so we will both be prepared."
"You'll train with that extra, but not me!?" I sighed, knowing Kacchan would be angered by this.
