Y/n brought her lunch tray over to the table that her two best friends, Eli and Demetri were sitting at.
"Cool jumper Eli, you look like Remus Lupin," y/n smiled as she sat down.
Eli smiled at y/n. "That werewolf from Harry Potter with all the scars on his face? Great compliment, y/n" Demetri shot her a look.
"It actually is a great compliment Demetri," y/n glared at the dark haired boy "Remus is smart, caring, attractive (according to his fan-cast), and he has really cool friends,"
"Yeah, I suppose I'd make a good Sirius Black," Demetri boasted.
Y/n started laughing uncontrollably, which only stopped when she saw the serious look on Demetri's face.
"Oh my god. Please don't tell me you're 'Sirius', Dem" Y/n smirked, proud of her pun.
"Alright 'miss know it all', which Marauder am I?" he crossed his arms.
Eli chuckled and took a bite of his lunch. "Stop flirting, guys,"
"Shut up Remus," Demetri shot back.
The friends ate in silence for a few moments until y/n muttered "You're such a Peter,"
Before Demetri could think of a sarcastic defence, a boy's voice spoke up. "Hey, is it cool if I sit here?" it said.
They looked up and saw a tall Hispanic boy standing there. He must be new to the school beacause none of them have ever seen him before.
"Sorry, the table is really blowing up right now. I can put you on the wait list but it's probably gonna be next semester at the earliest," Demetri joked.
The boy's brow furrowed in confusion "Ok," he said and started to walk off.
Y/n playfully hit Demetri in the side "He's kidding, sit. We have no other friends," she said, brutally but truthfully.
The boy pulled out a chair "I'm Miguel," he introduced himself.
"I'm Y/n," the girl smiled. "These two are Demetri and Eli. This one," she pointed to Eli "is a man of few words while the other one is a man of way too many," y/n finished, glaring at Demetri while she said the last comment.
Then a group of girls walked in and sat down next to their friends. They all had perfectly manicured hands and a full face of makeup. Demetri caught Miguel staring.
"Dude, don't torture yourself. Those are the rich girls" Demetri told him but Miguel still gazed longingly at the brunette that just sat down.
"Do you ever talk to them or..." Miguel started, naïvely.
"Oh yeah, all the time. We hang out after school, make out, give each other hand jobs," Demetri smirked, his voice heavy with sarcasm.
"Eli here is the homecoming king. Gets laid more than anyone. Isn't that right, Eli," y/n held an imaginary microphone at Eli but all he did was chuckle.
"Talk to them? You do realise what table you're sitting at, right?" Demetri crossed his arms. "Yeah, you've pretty much signed away all hope of losing your virginity before college,"
"You'll regret the decision of befriending us by the end of the week," y/n laughed and continued eating her lunch.
Eli glanced over at the rich girls once more. "Shit, Yasmine's looking at us. Probably just making fun of me," he slouched down and covered his lip.
Y/n put her arm around her best friend. "Dude, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Your lip is badass, it's just your depressing ass outlook. If you were just a little more confident then you would have ladies throwing themselves at you," the girl comforted.
Yasmine muttered a few comments to her group about Aisha, another girl in their year. Y/n didn't know Yasmine personally, and she definitely didn't want to. Why would you willingly interact with a real-life Regina George?
Demetri sighed lustfully. "I don't care if Yasmine is the meanest girl in school. I'd kill both of you guys-" he pointed at Eli and Miguel "just to get her to spit in my face,"
Y/n stifled a laugh before muttering "Nah, I was wrong. Sometimes, only sometimes you're a James Potter,"
After hearing these comments, Miguel became instantly confused. Maybe he just misread the situation between Demetri and Y/n.
Demetri continued to discuss the humiliation of rejection with Miguel. While listening in, y/n came to a realisation.
"Wait what about me? You said that you'd kill Eli and Miguel. What's my fate in this disgusting and yet hopefully hypothetical situation," y/n asked inquisitively.
Demetri looked over at the girl. To be honest he had no clue why he didn't mention y/n. "The only reason I'm keeping you around is to translate my sarcasm," he explained.
Y/n laughed. "Wow, nice to see our 8 years of friendship means that much to you," she finished her fanta.
"Hey, I'm the one getting murdered here," Eli mumbled, no louder than a whisper.
Then, Miguel stands up from the table, looking directly at Samantha Larusso who was sitting to the left of Yasmine.
"What are you doing?" Demetri asked.
"Striking first," he replied and started walking over to them.
"Ah, shit," Demetri threw down his yoghurt "just hope we don't get hit with the shrapnel,"
Y/n scoffed "If you're envious of him, just say it, Dem,"
"Envious? Why would I be envious of him?" Demetri turned to face his friend.
"Uhh I don't know. Maybe because he's making a move on Sam after about 5 minutes and, remind me again. How many years have you been swooning over Yasmine for?"
Y/n taunted, slightly smirking.Demetri rolled his eyes. "Is your memory whacked? I literally just said that I'm at peace with my depression... See, I'm not envious"
Y/n was close to laughter. "If you're not envious then why is your face turning red," she pointed out.
Demetri didn't realise that he had been blushing. He turned to his attention to Miguel, trying to end the conversation. Y/n crossed her arms smugly, she loved proving herself right.
Miguel slowly walked over to the table full of girls and the girl that he had his eye on looked up at him.
Just as he was getting closer to them, Kyler swooped in and sat beside Samantha, like some sort of Spidey-Sense
"Hey Sam, looking beautiful," Kyler smiled.
Miguel turned around and walked back to his new friends. "So how'd it go?" Demetri asked. Trying his hardest not to say 'I told you so'
