The car came to a halt and I glanced at the shadowy forest, all I could see were trees and foliage.

After squinting my eyes for a little while, I saw a house marked in pitch blackness. Murky under the dark green trees.

Mr. Kim got out of the car and I held my breath, Heeseung gestured me to come out, I was hesitant at first but I didn't have a choice but to face whatever now comes my way.

We got out from the car and took out our luggage. Mr. Kim watched us from the front of the car and said, "You should go straight this way and you'll reach there; it is an old house so might be a bit unconventional."

"No, we are glad that we have a place to stay the night. Thank you for the ride, Mr. Kim." Heeseung responded with bags in both his hands.

I took one of them and bowed down in unison with Heeseung to express our gratitude.

"It's my duty as a village head." Mr. Kim proudly retorted. The driver came out of the car and helped us with the luggage, he whispered in a low voice, only I could hear it since Heeseung was busy asking more about the village and appreciating Mr. Kim for his help.

"I must warn you, that house is rumored to be haunted. Be careful of what comes your way."

"What?" I muttered back confused. Haunted? Are there ghosts and spirits in there?

Before he could reveal anything more Mr. Kim called out for him, "Yang what are you doing we have to get back, hurry up." With that being said, Mr. Kim got inside the car.

The driver gave me last worried look and entered inside the car.

Both of us were now left in silence after the car was out of sight.

The route Mr. Kim showed before he left goes all through the forest and the house is located at higher elevation.

We finally reached that place, in the brindled light of dusk, in the embrace of deep shadows, that house came into clear sight.

Spooky would be the right word to describe it, the paint was peeled off, and the brown vines draped it on the sides while the roof was covered with greenery.

Even if it was felt haunting at first glance, I could feel that it was lonely, the cold walls must wish for the warmth of touch and sun rays.

As they say spooky is in the heart of the beholder, and that house held firmly its traditional and twilight zoned vibe. Too much for a house that didn't hold any special meaning for now.

Heeseung frowned looking at me, "It's been a while since you're looking at it, do you want to go inside or stay here for the night?"

I snaped out of my thoughts and followed him behind. We stood at the door for a while it didn't look like there was anyone inside. So, we barged in.

The door screeched ajar.

Everything was pitch black.

Heeseung turned on his phone's torch and searched for a switch. I couldn't see through the darkness so I waited for him.

In the midst, my eyes sensed something in motion, those perilous dark-brown eyes came into my line if sight.
