Chapter 6: Retreat and regroup

The Quinjet,

Banner was in distress, especially what just happened. Wanda used her powers on him, turning him into the Hulk and making him rage all over Johannesburg. Tony had to eventually step in with his Hulkbuster armor, causing even more damage than trying to contain it, wreaking havoc on the city. Banner was thinking of all the damage he had done, laying under a blanket, on a seat.

Steve was also in distress, whatever the Maximoff girl did to him made him see an illusion of himself and Peggy. Having the dance they never had.

Thor was worried. Whatever the Maximoff girl made him see, worried him. In his vision he saw his friend Heimdall, but he was different, he had white eyes, and called him a destroyer. Destroying wherever his path leads. Lighting also started shooting off of him, this confused him.

"The News is loving you guys. Nobody else is. There's been no official call for Banner's arrest, but it's in the air... And there's been no sign of Jake anywhere." Maria Hill spoke on their radio. "The Stark Relief Foundation?" Tony asked, "Already on the scene. How's the team?" "Everyone's... We took a hit. We'll shake it off." "Well, for now, I'd stay in stealth mode and stay away from here." Tony looked at Maria through the video call, "So run and hide?" She sighed, "Until we can find Ultron, I don't have a lot else to offer." Tony then sighed too, "Neither do we." He ended the call and walked towards Clint, who was piloting the jet, "Hey, you wanna switch out?" "No, I'm good. If you wanna get some kip, now's the time, because we are still a few hours out." "Few hours from where?" "A safe house."

The Barton farm,

The Quinjet was just landed, the Avengers, Clint still holding Nat, were making their way to the house. They just get to the porch when Thor asks, " What is this place?" and Tony answered, "Safe house." "Let's hope." Clint says, opening up the door letting all of them in. "Honey? I'm home." Just then a pregnant woman walked in, holding the paper that was in her hand, "Hi. Company. Sorry, didn't call ahead." "Hey." She replied, then they... kissed? To which Tony replied, "This is an agent of some kind." "Gentlemen, this is Laura." And Laura awkwardly waved and said "I know all of your names." then chuckled, so Tony awkwardly waved too as they heard footsteps approaching, "Ooh, incoming." So he bend down and 2 kids ran in and hugged him, "Dad!" the 1 girl yelled, "Hi, sweetheart." picking up the little girl and hugging the boy, "Hey buddy. How you guys doin'?" as Cap and Thor gave a weird and confused look and Tony, shocked as well, said, "These are smaller agents.", "Did you bring Auntie Nat?" The one girl asked, then right on que, Nat came up and said, "Why don't you hug her and find out." walking toward the little girl as she jumped up and hugged her, "Sorry for barging in on you." Cap said to which Tony continued, "Yeah we would have called first, but we were too busy having no idea that you existed." "Yeah, well, Fury helped me set this up when I joined. He kept it off of S.H.I.E.L.D's files. I'd like to keep it that way. I figure it's a good place to lay low." "Honey." Laura said, until Thor stepped onto something, he looked down to see he stepped on a Lego house and slid it under a couch as Nat came up to Laura's belly, "I missed you, how's little Natasha, huh?" Steve noticed what Thor did and looked at him, "She's... Nathaniel." she said as Nat had a shocked and betrayed expression on her face, so, jokingly, she bends down and whispers, "Traitor." 

The little girl walked up to Thor in front of him and looked up, to her, he was like a giant. Just then as toast in the toaster popped up, Thor had a flashback of his vision, so he walked out of the house as Steve followed him too, "Thor?" "I saw something in that dream. I need answers. I won't find them here." Thor said as he flew off. As Cap was about to walk inside, he heard a voice. Peggy's voice, from when he was in that dream. He walked back out into the field.

Laura was checking Clint's healed side, "See? You worried for nothing? Can't even feel the difference, can you?" "If they're sleeping here, some of them are gonna have to double up." Clint laughed and said, "Yeah, that's not gonna sell." and he walked to the closet as she followed him, "What about Nat and Dr. Banner? How long has that been going on?" "Has what?" She laughed, putting clothing away in a basket, "You are so cute." "Nat and Banner?" "I'll explain when you're older, Hawkeye." "Well, okay." "It's bad right? Nat seems really shaken." He sighed, "Ultron has these allies, these, uh, kids. They're punks, really. They took the new guy too, an intern, don't know why. But they carry a big, damn stick. And Nat took a serious hit. Someone's gonna have to teach them some manners." They start walking to the window, "That someone being you. You know I totally support your avenging." He sat on a chair as she put her hands on his shoulders, "But I see those guys..." They look out the window to see Steve and Tony about to chop some wood, "Those Gods..." "You don't think they need me." "I think they do, which is a lot scarier. They're a mess." He sighed "Yeah. I guess they're my mess." "You need to be sure that this team is really a team, and that they have your back." He stood up and looked at her, "Things are changing for us." "In a few months' time you and I are gonna be outnumbered. I need... Just be sure." "Yes ma'am." They kissed then hugged each other as he felt the healed area, "I can feel the difference."
