~~~~~~ To better understand this story, the stories, "Hutch Goes Home for Christmas" and "Starsky Goes Home for Christmas" first. :) ~~~~~~~~~~~
As the week came to a close, both Starsky and Hutch were happy that they got to spend Christmas with their families. It was a week of full tears, laughter, joy and new beginnings. Each of them in their own way had learned the true meaning of Christmas. Starsky learned to get rid of all the guilt that he had been holding onto for years. Hutch learned that he really had a family all this time. Now as the time came for them to leave, they couldn't wait to see what was waiting in store for them as well as their families.
                                                                                 ~~~~~~~~~~~~

As Ken woke up early, he laid in bed wishing that he had some more time with his family. He has always wanted his father's approval, now that he had it, he just wanted to spend more time with him. He began to think back to Christmas morning when his father had told him that he was proud of him. He couldn't believe his ears when he said it. Then he kept repeating how much he was proud of him and slowly Hutch started to believe it. He knew that there still needed to be some work on their relationship, but he was just happy that he finally got a father. But not just a father, his father. A knock on the door brought Ken out of his thoughts.

"Come in," Ken said as he sat up in bed as he turned on the light.

"Good morning son," Mr. Hutchinson said as he opened the door and peeked in.

Son, a word that Hutch could hear all day long and never get tired of it.

"Good morning, Father," he replied.

"I know that your plane leaves around 12 but I was hoping that we could go for a ride before you leave," Mr. Hutchinson said.

"I would like that, give me about ten minutes and I'll be ready," Hutch said with a smile on his face as his father nodded and walked out.

Hutch got out of bed and got ready. As he walked down the stairs, he saw that the Christmas tree was already turned on and he smiled as he stopped to look at it for a moment. He then walked into the kitchen thinking that he was going to meet his father at the barn but was surprised to see him sitting at the table. They smiled at each other before his father spoke up.

"I thought you might like some coffee before we walked to the barn to get the horses," Mr. Hutchinson said as he motioned for Hutch to sit down.

"Thank you," Hutch said as he took a drink of the coffee that was waiting for him.

Morning coffee was something that Hutch and his father had been doing since Christmas morning. It was a routine that both of them could get used to. Once they were done, they got up and walked to the barn. As they crossed the wintry ground, the sun was just rising in the sky. The colors in the sky were yellow, orange and red. Colors that Hutch missed while living in California. You can see the colors of the sky so much better in the country than in the city. Their ride was a quiet one but a good one. The crisp sound of the horses' hooves on the snow was a delightful one. There was some snow that had fallen from the trees but not much since it had snowed on Eve. Once they got back to the barn and put the horses' up Mr. Hutchinson spoke up.

"Kenneth, I would like to ask you a question if I may?" he said as he stepped out of the stall.

Hutch turned to look at him as he said, "Yes, sir."

"I know that our work schedule may have some problems for this to be the same every week. But I would like to talk to you every week, if you are okay with that?" Mr. Hutchinson asked.
