The end of another book has arrived. I seriously can't believe it! This one's longer than Bending Light, that's for sure. And I don't know about you, but I'm a lot happier with the ending.
Maybe that means I'll have to rewrite Bending Light... again. But that's for another time.
First off, to the thank yous. I would have written this anyway, but it wouldn't have been as fun without my friends, Erica Finkle (Fox), and Chartreuse_Bellamont. Thanks for sticking with it and giving it a shot!
Also thank you to K1415100. Your votes and comments are part of what made me come back here every week just to hear what you'd say.
And finally to all you silent readers out there. I know you guys... because I tend to be one of you ;)
The second order of business: Book recommendations. I like to include these because personally, I struggle finding things that fit my narrow reading spectrum. Last time, I gave out several retelling recommendations, but this time I thought I'd switch it up a little bit. Seeing as this is an LGBTQIA+ story, and it's pride month, I thought: "Why not give some recommendations?"
Looking for more LGBTQIA+ books? Check these out!
1). Steel Roses by RenaFreefall. Yep, again, I know. But it's so. Freaking. Good. Magic, fairytales, curses, and Beldon- I mean, er, ballrooms! Yes, definitely ballrooms. Who could ask for more?
2). Mask of Celibacy by Carolyn_Hill. This. Was. Amazing. It's an asexual straight romance, also involving the entire spectrum. As a story of self-discovery and coming of age, it was perfectly wholesome. Really, you could classify it best as one of those stories you didn't know you needed until you read it...
3). Apple Pies and Stethoscopes by animana. Harry and James are so cute and heartwarming that I just curled up in a ball of happy tears every chapter (That is after my Harry Potter brain got over the fact that their names are Harry and James). There are some scenes, but they are all marked so you can skip them if they make you uncomfortable.
4). Glitch by thenonbinaryvegan. This was the first boyxboy book I read by Jojo, and I think that's why I'm certain it's the best. It's technically a boyxandroid but half the time I didn't really notice. This story is all about self-acceptance, and that's what earned it a spot in recommendations, along with brilliant storytelling. Even if it doesn't sound interesting, I promise you Jojo has TONS of other options, all of which sound very intriguing.
5). Nathaniel Jean's Senior Year by stayonbrand. I thought this book was just an inspiring journey involving how to battle internalized homophobia. It reinforced my belief that people have the ability to change for the better, and things aren't always what they seem on the surface.
6). Bite Me by stayonbrand. I read this before it was a paid story, and it was very good. It is a boyxboy vampire/werewolf story (you could guess from the title) but oddly it didn't bother me. Let's be real, I don't really go for vampires or werewolves. I'll read the odd book here or there but it's not exactly my thing. But we all step out of our comfort zones sometimes. And the book was well written with a good plot and I actually liked it. Props to you, author!
And without further ado, on to the interview!
*looks around, even checking the ceiling just in case* Now where's Arielle? I need her for interviews.
