"Here he is!" The young girl motioned to a large black horse, the finely toned stallion perked his ears up as the two peered over the stall door.

A sweet scent of fresh hay filled their noses as the afternoon sun slowly started to dip below the large wall that protected them. Small dust particles floating in the air caught up with the man's nose, scrunching his eyebrows up he let out a singular quite sneeze before recollecting himself into the stoic manner he possessed.

"Bless you." (Y/n) gently spoke, her eyes never leaving the creature in front of the pair. The man's eyes flickered to her intending to dash away just as quickly as they had arrived, however he found it hard to pry his eyes away from her soft face.

For the first time, he studied her face drinking in her features, slowly his eyes moved to her hair, shoulders and silently creeped down her body taking in her beautiful physique. He had never taken the time to actually look at her, so now that he was he was slightly surprised at how pretty she actually was.

His eyes slowly moved back up, taking his time to memorize her anatomy for a second longer. As his eyes moved back to her face, he was surprised to be meet by her eyes. The two looked at each other for a moment in silence, neither one of them wanting to break the eye contact.

(Y/n)'s heart felt like it was about to beat out of her chest, she had never experienced such an intense feeling, she wasn't sure what it was.

The man's eyes where the first to break the intensity by flickering back to the large animal.

Taking a deep breath he shifted his weight so he now leaned onto the wall next to him, "You got the equipment to?"

"Yeah, would you like to give him a test run? He can have a bit of personality it times." She warned glancing back into the stall.

"Sure, whatever." He replied impatiently, just wanting to get things done as soon as possible.

"Alright, you go ahead and pull him out, bring him down to the fence outside and tie him up. I'll grab the gear." She said, turning around and walking to the tack room.

A few moments later the girl stood in the dusty room pulling the large leather saddle onto one of her hips. With her right hand she gripped onto the back of the saddle to make sure it stayed on her hip as she grabbed one of the pads off the rack. Turning around she reached up for the bridle, once everything was collected she made her way to the front of the barn.

Taking the turn down the front isle she made her way outside and graciously plopped the heavy saddle onto one of the racks out front. Quickly placing the pad on top and the bridle to hang off the horn, (Y/n) turned around to look at the stallion. His shiny coat reflected the sun as it still only showed half of itself, still setting over the wall.

Looking up at the horse face, the girl released a slightly shocked expression soon to turn into a chuckle.

"What?" The man asked as he stood with his arms crossed, leaning on the fence the horse was tied to.

Turning her head to glance into his eyes, "You've ridden before right?"

"Yes?" He responded slightly perplexed by her question.

"You have? Huh... have you always had someone to tack up for you?" She asked glancing from the man to the horse.

"What are you talking about?" The man sighed irritated.

"Yeah uh... that halter, is on upside down. And that..." she said motioning to the lead that was attached from the horse to the fence, "that is not how you tie a horse up." (Y/n) chuckled.

"Tch." He grunted.

"Here, I'll show you." The girl laughed as she walked up the the creatures face. Walking the man through the steps, she slowly showed him how to properly put on and take off a halter. Soon going on to show him how to tie up a horse, and why it's unsafe to just use one large knot.

Once she was finished she helped him to tack up the large creature, showing him step by step how each piece of equipment is used and why.

The man stayed silent, only giving small nods every so often while maintaining his bored expression.

"So, how much do you actually know about riding?" (Y/n) asked while emphasizing the word actually.

The man shrugged, "Hold on and don't fall off." He replied flatly.

"Okay... yes your not wrong..." she answered while thinking deeply.

"Listen. Where I came from, not many horses. So when I came up here and was told to get on a horse for the first time, wasn't really an opportunity to actually learn how to ride, if that's what you wanted to hear." He stated quickly.

"Yes- that's- okay thank you... You know, I could teach you." She suggested, reaching up to pet the horses strong neck.

"Tch. I don't need you to teach me."

"Alright, go ahead and try him out." She sighed handing the man the reins.

Taking them in his grip he walked over to the side of the stallion and placed one foot in the stirrup. Quickly swinging up onto his back, he gathered himself before slamming both legs onto the horses sides, heels jabbing into his stomach as the toe of his boot was pointed to the ground.

As a reaction to such a strong movement, the stallion quickly jerked his head up pinning his ears at the clueless man on top of him. Not sensing the red flags, the man once more slammed his heels into the horse while yanking back on the reins.

Of course, in just a second the horse was sent into a course of flying kicks, bucks and jumps in an attempt to get the man off of him which resulted in him landing hard onto his back in the dirt.

Having the wind knocked out of him, he gasped for air clutching his stomach in attempt to ease the pain shooting up his spine. Letting out a soft groan he opened his eyes to only be meet my the smug smirk of (Y/n) soon followed by the large horse head seemingly mocking him.

Sighing out another groan, he reached up and rubbed his temple before accepting the hand that the young girl had offered.

Helping the man back onto his feet, he quickly went to wipe off the dust and grime left on his pants and shirt.

"I'll see you tomorrow at 8:30, cowboy." (Y/n) winked, turning back and walking the stallion into the barn.

The man could only stand and watch her walking away as he rubbed his sore arm. The sun had dipped just below the wall by this time so the breeze was slightly chilling as it raised the hairs in the back of his neck. Releasing a sigh, he listened to the evening birds chirp and the soft footsteps he caused on the gravel road.

"Brat." He scoffed quietly.
