Hermione, Ron, and Emilia were in the library, hoping Harry would be let out of the nurse's office soon. Emilia was at a desk working a way to see what's in the chamber of secrets. She was trying to make a spell or charm that could trick the monster into thinking the caster is the heir. So basically, it was beating Salazar's system, since Emilia's father was still alive.
Ron was eating some butterscotch and fidgeting, while Hermione was reading a good book. As Emilia was working on how the spell should be casted, she tried to ignore distractions. She was figuring out what wrist motion should be used to cast it. As Emilia kept thinking of ideas, she scribbled some of them in a journal.
"Hm.. but what happens if it fails to see the user as the heir..? Perhaps I need a plan B.." Emilia mumbled to herself. "What's that you're making?" Hermione asked. Emilia thought of a way to explain without sounding crazy. "I'm trying to make a spell."Emilia replied. "Oh, what kind of spell?" Hermione asked, interested. "It's just a spell to try to trick the monster to stop the attacks." Emilia said. That was technically the truth. The spell could be used to stop the attacks. "Oh, well it seems you're quite busy, and that seems like it could be the answer to our problems, so I'll leave you be." Hermione said, and went back to reading a book. Emilia went back to brainstorming and soon became lost in thought.
While Emilia's journal laid on the table, Ron picked it up and started flipping through a bunch of the pages and reading bits and pieces. Thankfully, none of the things he read were any of Emilia's secrets. She remembered to write those in invisible ink, so no damage could be done. Emilia snapped out of thought, and realized what Ron had in his last hands. Emilia sighed quietly, slightly irritated. Ron continued to flip through the pages. Emilia could hear the rustling of pages over and over again. The thought of Ron finding something out about her was getting unbearable. Over and over again, Ron kept flipping the pages and scanning every page, completely unaware as to how annoying it was becoming. She gritted her teeth, trying to ignore it. Emilia gripped her quill tightly in annoyance. She was pressing so hard on the quill, that it finally snapped. Ron and Hermione looked up at her. "Ron, if you're bored, you're free to play with Ivory." Emilia said sweetly. Emilia forced herself to smile, not wanting to lash out at Ron.
Ivory was on the table sleeping. "Ivory, wake up. I need something from you. Keep Ron occupied, please. He's.. distracting me." Emilia said to the snake in its language. "Oh, and as frustrated as I am, make sure to leave him with all of his fingers." Emilia said and chuckled darkly. "Will do." Ivory said. Ivory probably would have saluted if he had hands. Ron didn't know what she was laughing at or saying, but it was kind of creepy, and sounded a bit angry. Ron just sat and observed Ivory, who was trying to crawl in a book. "I would let you feed Ivory, but I'm sure you wouldn't like feeding him live rats. He constricts his prey, after all." Emilia said. Ron gulped a little.
The tension in the air was making him uneasy. Emilia got back to working on the spell until it was time to go back to their dorms.
