As Mark tossed the soaked clothing into the laundry room, letting it hang dry first before tossing it into the dryer, Yami busied himself in the kitchen, making enough tea and coffee to bathe in. Meanwhile, both Cry and Chilled were hiding under blankets at one end of the couch, embarrassed to be so exposed with Minx nearby. Minx couldn't help but chuckle at their awkwardness, not even bothering to remind them of their childhood. Well, at least between her and Cry, she didn't remember the short time period where Chilled had lived with them.
"Somebody call for a family reunion already? Aw, didn't know you guys missed us already!"
"Come on in you two! Coffee's almost ready!"
Yami called from the kitchen. The trio on the couch turned to see both Adam and Ken walking into the toasty home, leaving their umbrellas and boots by the front door to avoid soaking the home any more. As soon as Chilled saw them, a depressed anger bubbled inside him, but he decided to bite his tongue and let them speak their own explanations. If he started the fight, he might end up burning a hole in the couch. Once Adam saw Chilled, his smile faltered slightly as he sighed heavily, knowing what was coming next.
"Chilled, I was going to tell you-"
"Oh, don't start with bullshit Adam. If you knew who I was when we had first met, then why the fuck would you have kept yourself hidden from me? Were we really the shit under your shoes? Scraped us off and went on your merry way with Father and your three precious children?"
"No, it wasn't like that at all..."
"Then explain why you dumped us off to the seasons and kept the others! Explain why within ten moon phases they deserted us! Explain that, you fuck!"
Sitting next to the fuming man, Adam went to put a hand on his shoulder, but the heat radiating off of his skin was enough to burn, so he placed his hand back in his own lap.
"You might wanna cool down before you burn a hole in the couch Anthony.."
Sighing deeply, Chilled tried his best to keep his cool, but still found it extremely hard as Adam sat a bit too close to him. As the simmering stopped, Adam decided to continue his explanation, with Ken sitting next to him, hand in hand.
"Listen, the reason we had to leave you with the seasons is probably the same reason we're all gathered here today, well, for the most part I guess. Long ago, when humans first gained any sort of intelligence, you know, when monkeys were becoming cavemen and shit, we reigned in secrecy, already far more advanced than they. Minx was a baby and I was pregnant with Cry. But after his birth, something... evil soon followed...
"I don't know why or how it came to be, but within the first months of Cry's birth, an evil entity had begun to grow within me, and I ended up puking out this tar-like substance. It almost killed me, but I survived, but so did it somehow. Maybe because death was now a part of the earth's existence, and evil could now grow with death, who knows? It was about 50 years later, give or take, as time wasn't a concept back then when it attacked. I had just become pregnant with Mark, and you and your brothers were about a year old. In human years, Minx would be about six and Cry would be four. It attacked the weakest members of our family first; the children, including Mark.
"If it wasn't for the seasons, we would have all perished by its hands. They had come to our aid as they knew about my pregnancy, and the evil that lurked nearby. It's hard to fight back when one is a pregnant woman, you know. I had created the ice caps to trap the beast within, to keep it from ever returning. But, for extra precaution, the seasons took you four to their home in case it ever returned. I'm not sure why they abandoned you all, but I haven't heard from them since. Say, where are your brothers anyway?"
