history : libyan aircraft carrier qasr abu-hadi (named after colonel gaddafi hometown). originally she was a imperial japanese taihou-class carrier named 'ijn toshiko'. she only saw little combat. her only notable role is in the soviet invasion of south sakhalin where she supports the troops.
near the closing stage of ww2. she was docked at otomori (korsakov) docks. the soviets were close to the city. that when the soviets captured her. she then was transfer to khabarovsk where she is studied. the soviets kept her in storage for almost 40 years. that when the soviets offered her into the service of the libyan arab republic.
the libyans agreed. in 1970 she was transfered to tripoli. with the collaboration wigh egyptian and syrian engineers. and fund from the soviet union. she was extensivly modified and reformed in 2 years. first she was named 'tripoli'. she then first saw action in yom kippur war, 1977 libyan egyptian border conflict. and in 1977 when gaddafi proclaimed green libya.
she was renamed ino qasr abu-hadi. im 1979 she recieve only an upgraded engine or propulsion which make her faster. she saw action during the gulf of tandra incident, second congo war (supporting the drc), supporting syria in the lebanese civil war, and 2011 where the downfall of green libya starts.
in january 2011 before the revolution she was sunk by nato ships off the coast of libya. the end of the former japanese ended there.. in the mediteranian sea...
however after the sinking. nobody cannot find the wreck. as if the ship dissapeared...
