"Mama, Papa! We're invited to a ceremony today!"

I tell my parents.

"Oh! That's great! We can get to know the people that live here."

"Yes! I'll tell sila Kuya!" I say.

"I'll go get ready, tell them to change too." My mom responds,

"Okayy"

I tell my brothers the news and they get ready for the ceremony,

We walk to Casita and before we walk in my mom whispers to us all,

"Okay everyone, none of use your curse, we can't be kicked out right after we found a safe place..."

"Yes mama."
We all respond.

We walk towards the door as we are met by a young man greeting the people going inside.

"Senora! Cecilia! Up Top!"

He greets the others until he turns to us.

"Oh hey! You knew here? Who invited you guys?"

"Yes, we're knew here, and Mirabel invited us."

"Oh, welcome and have fun!"
He says as he hold my hand to give it a kiss.

I laugh awkardly.

"Enjoy your stay Hermosa."

He says as he continues to greet the other guests.

"Y/N! That guy totally thinks your hot!"
Miguelo says.

"Gelo! I'm only 14, and besides, mama said not to use your curse!"

I sign to him.

"I didn't use it! I could just tell from this far away!"

He immediately gets that it's supposed to be a private conversation and signs back.
(I mean sign language guys.)

We wait as the ceremony starts and a young boy shows up.

He reaches out his hand to Mirabel, and I can hear a faint,
" I need you. "

I watch as Mirabel walks with, Antonio? I think that's his name, they go up the stairs of Casita and their Abuela say some stuff to Antonio.

He slowly reaches for the doorknob and soon it starts to glow.

Everyone is shocked when a toucan lands on his arm.

"Uhuh! I can understand you!"

"Woah..." I say in awe.

I don't notice the tears falling from my eyes.

Everyone begins to cheer, I watch as they're all happy for the young boy.

How are they happy about this? This is...amazing.

I start crying rapidly.

My brothers notice and start comforting me understanding that I feel bad for not being able to get this treatment even as a child.

Born with no powers, inherited a curse that the towns people cursed us for.

Engraved in our head the angry shouts of other people, and now the happy cries of people in this town.

"Hey, you okay?"

I see Mirabel appear infront of me with Camilo by her side.

"Sorry, I guess I'm just amazed."

"You must be really affected! Wanna go to Camilos room to hang?"

"Wait what? I never agreed to that!-"
I watch as he protests against Mirabel.

I look at him while wiping my eyes, about to say that it's okay for me to stay outside.

"-I mean its not really a problem, you can definetly stay in my room.."

"Are you okay with that?"

I ask raising my eyebrow.

"Yeah totally!"

"Where's your room?"

"Follow me Mi Hermosa!"

"What does that mean?"

"You don't understand it?"

"Im Filipino, they're not fully Spanish but I can understand a bit, but I don't know Hermosa?"

"It means uhh, LADY YEAH."

"Alright awkwardo let's go to your room."
Mirabel interrupts after watching our little fiasco.

"Mama! Papa! Kuya! Aalis mo na ko!"
(Mom! Dad! I'm gonna go for a while!)

"Stay safe!" They say.

We head to Camilo room and I watch as we enter and...

"ITS HUGE!!"

I say with literal stars in my eyes.

"I mean its not THAT big, Antonio's AND Isabellas rooms are WAY more bigger I mean if you look-"

"What's this?"
I ask interrupting a flustered Camilo.

I pick up a book with words and phrases that look like..
"those are my lyrics, I have the words but never really the melody."

"I wanna see you happy, I know I'm not the one but atleast smile for me..."
I recite.

"I don't really have a melody for that one, but still,"

"These are good! Maybe I can help you find a melody?"

"You'd really do that for me?"

"Imagine being pretty, nice and having an amazing voice."
Mirabel tells me.

"You're using my words against me."
I say laughing.

"Yeah you are really pretty yknow?"
Camilo says.

Then he suddenly turns into a blushing mess.

"I mean- Yknow- it's a compliment! Like-"

"dude we get it she's drop dead gorgeous."
Mirabel interrupts him.

"YEAH THAT. HAHA."
He says with an exaggerated face and a pointed finger to Mirabel.

"Ok?"
Me and Mirabel say.

"Anyways, I really need to get going."
I say.

"Let's hangout tomorrow!"
Mirabel says

"Sure! Maybe I can introduce you to my brothers,"

"That would be fun."
Camilo says

We walk towards the door easily since almost everyone went inside Antonio's new room.

"Anyways, I'll see you tomorrow-"

Suddenly cracks appeared out of nowhere.

"What the-"
Camilo says.

The cracks grow and reaches the candle as it looks like it's about to burn out.

I hear a loud crack above me.

"Y/N!!!"
I hear Mirabel and Camilo shout.

Then, everything turns black.
