~Chaeyeong POV~
The rest of the day flew by in a blur, with me spacing out in most of my classes. Minho had to constantly fill me in on what each teacher had taught. Too bad we didn't have every single block together though.
I quickly went to my locker to pack all my things, then walked with Minho towards that dance room.
"I do hope this teacher is at least a little less boring." I complained. "They all remind me of my grandparents ranting about their childhood."
Minho cracked up at my comment. "I'm sure they're not that bad." He laughed, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.
I grumbled, but slung my arm over his anyways. I saw a few girls glare at me, but I made sure to stick up my middle finger at them when Minho's head was turned. They looked like they wanted to make some snarky comment but decided otherwise. I smiled to myself and waved to Minho as I entered the changing room. I quickly slipped on my leotard and tights, then started breaking my shoes (A/N: yes lots of ballerinas 'break' their pointe shoes before they wear them, usually for more flexibility or a better grip). I then took my bag and went inside the studio.
The ballet studio was one of the prettiest ones I've ever seen. The floor gleamed, as if it had just been cleaned, and ceiling glowed a bright white. The large, full length mirrors reflected the beauty of the studio, and the barres that stood at the side were in pristine condition.
"Now I know why this school is so special." I breathed softly.
"It sure is, and this is only the beginning." A voice sounded from behind me. I turned around to find a middle-aged woman standing in a deep purple overcoat. Her eyes wrinkled when she smiled, but it showed her kindness somehow. Her cascading white hair fell right above the small of her back, and her upturned nose gave a sense of pride. I found myself staring in awe at the woman, liking the energy that she gave off.
"Madame Yeon, pleasure to make your acquaintance." She gave a little bow before straightening her back and smiling at me gently.
I quickly bowed back in an awkward manner. "Min Chaeyeong." I replied, trying to replicate her grin. She just chuckled softly and I felt my cheeks go red in embarrassment. It felt so important to create a good first impression on this woman.
As I tried to recover from that little fiasco, more students started filing in from both changing rooms. They immediately regrouped with their friends and started chattering excitedly. Minho came up to me and tapped me on the shoulder.
"Chae, come on. The teacher's about to make some kind of announcement." I followed him and we sat down in the middle of the crowd.
"As some of you-" Madame Yeon winked at me. "-already know, I am Madame Yeon. I will be your ballet instructor for the duration of this school year."
Minho gave me a questioning look, but looked back at Madame Yeon since she started talking again.
"This year, we'll be starting off with a ballet, choreographed by none other than Kwan Hyun Woo." She announced, watching as multiple people started to whisper.
Kwan Hyun Woo is a renowned dancer who, in his later life, started choreographing ballets. He is well known for the mystery, suspense, and improvisation in each of his ballets. He is also known as one of the most talented dancers of his time.
"The opening piece that you all will be performing is The Nutcracker (A/N: pls just pretend he choreographed this, I'm not a ballet expert! T^T)" Madame Yeon stated. "I will be assigning partners, one male one female. You two will be auditioning for the roles Clara and The Nutcracker Prince."
