1. An Epic Reason

"Before we begin today's class-" Aizawa spoke in his monotonous voice. His eyes drooped as he slipped out of his sleeping bag. "-I'd like you all to meet your new classmate."

A roar of confused 'huh' and 'what' erupted from class 1A. Katsumi stood tapping her index finger on her hand, outside the enormous door. I wish I could be invisible.

"Come in." She heard her teacher call. Taking in a deep breath, she walked inside.

This is the most embarrassing moment of my life. I wanna die.

The cool and suffocating atmosphere of being in a large crowd sent a series of agitated clenching-unclenching of the jaw, nervous tapping of her finger, and erratic breaths. Her eyes avoided contact with anyone as they lay fixated on the wall at the end of the room.

I told him not to delay my admission.

"This is Takami Katsumi. I know it's been several months since school started but due to personal reasons, she wasn't able to join. Takami, you can sit behind Mina, there-" he pointed.

Katsumi nodded and walked quickly to the desk. She could feel twenty sets of eyes piercing through her soul.

"Ah! So that's why we had an extra desk today," A boy with bright yellow hair spoke.

"Alright now..." Aizawa continued the class.

It was a basic class of Hero History. Katsumi already knew pretty much everything. Perks of growing up at the Hero Public Safety Commission, aka HPSC: my hell.

Occasionally shifting her gaze towards her classmates, she studied, analyzed everyone in her vision range.

A girl with pink skin sat before her and a girl with frog attributes behind. On her right, two guys with bright red and yellow hair sat, on the verge of falling asleep. On the second desk, was a really pretty girl with plugs hanging out of her ear.

Damn, she's hot.

The petite, fair-skinned, extremely hot girl lazily goggled at the teacher, trying her best not to yawn. Her hair was short, around chin length, and dark purple in colour with an asymmetrical fringe. The most prominent features were plug-like earphone jacks hanging from each of her earlobes which were tangled in her finger as she played with them.

Katsumi's not-so-decent daydreaming was interrupted by a blond-nest-for-hair boy. He had, for some epic reason, yelled 'die' at a scared boy behind him who squeaked so loud that Katsumi almost jumped assuming someone was in danger.

She pondered on what could be the reason when Aizawa groaned.

"Bakugo, he dropped his pencil accidentally, not on purpose. Now, if you interrupt again, you'll be the one dying."

Bakugo, eh? He seems like an asshole.

Those burning red eyes, rolling so hard it might get stuck. That scowling face and the attitude of looking down at everyone.

He better not cross me.

"That's it for today," Aizawa announced, collecting his papers. "There's only one week left for your midterm exams, I'm sure you're studying constantly. Don't forget to keep training. The written exam is only one element, there's also the practical portion."

Katsumi looked from the corner of her eyes; the red and yellow-haired duo looked visibly scared. The girl in pink skin, who she recalled was Mina, was shivering too.

"Takami-" Katsumi's heart leapt out of her chest when her name was called. Aizawa was looking at her, "Since you are behind in lectures, you won't be giving exams."
