For the first time in his eighteen --no wait nineteen-- years of life Bakugo woke up with a smile on his face. The first, immediate thought in his mind was of Katsumi and the previous night. The smile grew further broader when he found the love of his life snuggled up to him. She seemed peaceful, so peaceful that made Bakugo unable to breathe just so he wouldn't disturb her precious sleep with his worthless breaths.
Katsumi was right, Bakugo did act out of character around her.
He stared at her for a long time. His eyes wandered around her features, consuming all the details of the scars and moles that were present. He gently traced a finger over her nose, over the scar her father had given her. It pained Bakugo every time he thought about that. Her family had given her nothing but pain for all those months that he had known Katsumi. And she bore that pain with all the strength she could garner.
She was exceptionally strong. Not that Bakugo would admit out loud but he knew how much Katsumi had improved and how he would still lose to her if they spar again. A soft chuckle formed inside his chest. Sparring. That's how everything started. Bakugo fell head over heels in love with her, with her radiant smile, with her obnoxiously large glasses and those heavenly eyes behind them. With her teasing, her confidence, and her strength.
It was too good to be true. It was too good to be real.
When Bakugo finally woke up, he found the other side of the bed empty. His heart raced at the thought of everything being a dream after all, but something caught his attention. On the side table, a note was placed-- folded neatly, and a cup of brewing coffee.
His heart swell as the aroma of sweet coffee filled his nose, coursing through his body. He lunged forward and took a sip of the coffee instantly making his head lighter. He opened the note and began reading.
Katsuki,
Happy Birthday!
I write too many damn letters, don't I? Well, it saves me the embarrassment.
I was actually planning on writing a bigger, proper letter but your annoying, caring ass interrupted last night with that godly chicken.
I woke up before you today, haha! But I'm shit scared you might wake up any second now so I'm writing this as fast as I can. But you're stupid, hot, and naked body is too damn distracting. Sleep with a t-shirt on from next time >: [
I hope you don't have plans for today (if you do, cancel them. I spent too much on this), get ready and meet me in the hall at 10.
I love you,
KatsumiBakugo sighed. He placed the empty cup on the table and clutched the note in his hand. Then he looked up and thought, What did I do to deserve her?
He jumped from the bed and rushed into the shower. As he walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist and another drying his hair, his phone rang.
He groaned at the screen but ended up picking it up. It was the one day he knew he couldn't escape her.
"What do you want?"
"Happy birthday my sweet baby boy!" He heard the deafening shout of the woman on the other side. Then the phone shifted to a rather calm male voice, "Happy birthday, Katsuki."
"Ugh," Bakugo threw his head back in frustration and sighed. "Thank you or whatever."
"It's no way to behave you little brat!" Mitsuki snarled.
"Oh shut up, ya old hag."
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?"
Bakugo heard the distinct voice of his father trying to calm his screaming mother. He stood in the middle of his room listening to their blabber. If he was being honest, he kind of missed them.
