"Maybe the necklace of my mother should go into the shoebox?" Playing with the rose pendant Milo rubs his finger across the solid petal. The red ruby that lay rested in between the petals shined bright as the light from his lamp cast upon it. Milo felt much better this past few days finally getting approval from his Mimi he started to work more over time. And even though it affected his sleep schedule he managed to hold himself together for the sake of his health.
Would everything be okay? Milo could only hold his hopes up, but something would eat at him as if something is gonna happen? Mimi would tell him to brush it off, it's only natural that you would think of the bad before you accept the good. Milo shakes his head, right think positive. He thinks this as he pulls out his phone snapping the picture of the necklace. Although his teacher requested students bring their sentimental items, Milo couldn't afford for something this precious to be stolen.
Putting the item into the case, Milo yawns closing the box, and putting it back on Mimi's dresser. Luckily for him, Mimi was at work for the night, working overtime. He hoped she was already pushing through the pain of her thyroid has to be hard on her. There were times where he would tell her not to go to work, that she should take a break, but as stubborn as always she declined.
Milo turns the light off in his grandmother's bedroom, before going downstairs. The floorboards creak under his steps. Walking towards the kitchen, he opens the box rummaging through it. Pulling out the container of white rice, and leftover octo-weiners. Warming up the food Milo sits and observes the photo of his Mother hanging on the wall. A beautiful woman she was indeed that, and the man next to her held a firm stare but he was indeed handsome. Milo could only guess that was his father, and that the baby the couple was holding was him.
In another picture a younger Mimi was smiling by the lake with Milo's Grandpa. He passed away when Milo was five, but the memories of him is something that Milo holds dearly. The male in the picture held a fish in one hand and his other armed wrapped proudly around his wife. Looking at him you could've never suspected he was battling and inner disease like liver cancer.
There were many other photos some photos with people Milo couldn't recognize while others had some of his cousins that he used to hang out with when he was younger. After his Grandpa's death the whole family separated and Milo hardly ever saw his cousins. It sad when the only information that you can get about family could be just rumors.
Aliyah was also in some of the pictures like some of his younger teenage ones, and some of the family photos of Mimi and Milo. Milo's favorite one had to be the pinic one though he had never seen Mimi smile so brightly showing all rows of teeth. Her eyes closing as they also smile with her. The microwave stops letting out its sound, as Milo stops daydreaming opening the door of it, and removing his food.
All while eating he scrolled through Instagram, laughing at the cute otters that argued over the toys they were playing with. The time on his phone read 9:00pm, as he finishes up his rice. He places his phone down, taking the bowl to the sink to wash it. A ding from his phone makes him pause as he let's the water run on the now clean plate.
Mimi would have a fit at the fact he left the water on, Milo dries his hand before taping the phone. It was a text from Trent. Milo read the text, "Alice told me about your family problems and how you need help. Tonight's really busy and this could be an opportunity to make some overtime don't you think? Don't worry Li will be here too, so you won't be alone. Text me back if you're still interested."
Milo smiles slightly before sending a smiley face 😀. The text bubbles appear but this time it's from Alice, "Snitch I told you to let him mention it to you damnit."
