Chapter 7

An awkward silence surround's the two, but Milo breaks it by laughing. "Wait, You are joking with me right!" Milo wipes the tears of the corner of his eyes, "Seriously Alice what's up?" He tells the young woman as she takes a sip of her drink. He raises an eyebrow, she couldn't have been serious is what he was thinking now, as he sits down in the chair across the bar. "Alice?" He questions the light-skin woman peers up at him closing her green eyes as she lets out a groan. "Look before you disagree, think for a moment Milo, I have this- " No thank you," The young man says waving his hand stopping her from further speaking on the situation.

There was no way in hell, he'd ever even think of agreeing to this, and Alice should've known he wouldn't, so why would she bother to ask him? Milo had no clue, but the young woman also was as stubborn as he was, and she had no intention of letting the conversation go. "Milo, look I know it's not something of your morals, and I know you're uncomfortable, but face the facts you need this. Mimi needs this," She says, but Milo still shows no interest.

Alice sighs about to throw in the towel, it was a stupid idea to begin with, but she still held hope. Then suddenly she had an idea, "Do you really think you could possibly help Mimi, working at a worn out bar part time that is and only making a hundred in something every two weeks, think about it Milo!"

Milo eyes narrow for a second, but he shakes his head no telling her, "I can't sell myself Al, I'll get another job, an try to talk to tax collectors, and as for school, maybe I'll start slacking a bit, but I'll figure it out. I'm strong"

Milo gives her a small smile, pouring some more strawberry daiquiri in her cup. "You're a minor still Milo, and you don't become a fully fledged adult until two years from now, what do you think you'll be able to do? You can still continue to go to school, make good grades, pay for all of Mimi's medical bills, the house, and many other things if you just take up my offer," Alice says desperately truth was she wasn't going to be able to watch out for the young boy anymore.

Milo sighs, "Don't worry, besides you're my backbone, and as long as I got you I'll continue to push forward, so just support my choices, okay?" Milo grasps her hands as Alice becomes more sadden. "我和你是一家人 (Me and you are Family)". Alice eyes becomes glossy seeing the boy staring at her the soft slanted eyes glistening as the light cascades the pupil.

She gulps, "What if I told you that I can no longer be by your side?" Milo mouth parts, as he tilts his head to the side, "What do you mean?" He says in a broken voice, as he prayed that she wasn't thinking of leaving him. Alice lets out a shakily breath, "I'm sorry Milo, but you have understand that I love Arthur, and he's leaving to go back aboard, and this time he will not return, but I don't want to loose him, I can't- " Don't worry, it's all fine," Milo says to her as he wipes away the tears on her eyes.

However truly pain was all he felt, but he couldn't be selfish, no matter how selfish he wanted to be. Alice had her own life to live, and he knew the feeling of Loneliness all to well as it slowly creeps upon him, but he keeps down the tears as he reassures her everything is okay.

"So when do you leave?" He asks Alice as she wipes the rest of her tears, "Two weeks from now, but that doesn't matter ! What matter is that you are straight before I leave." She tells Milo. Two weeks? Milo couldn't help but think that maybe this was in her plan all along, it seems like everyone has a plan to leave him, they all just pick the worst moments to go through with it.

His Mother, Father, Mimi, and now Alice? His eyes down at his drink watching as the ice cube, would move slowly, but the water rocked smoothly ahead. He couldn't help but think he was that single ice cube, and everyone else was the current, moving fast away leaving him behind as he melted slowly.
