2 days laterShenika
The last few days were not as hard as I anticipated them to be, this was meant to be a moment for me and Gia but it ended up being about something else and that was all because of Idris, I didn't even want to think of the ways that he got hector out of here and the fact that hector even went along with it was beyond me at this point .. I felt more betrayal than I did anger.
It was day two of managing the club and honestly it was a good temporary distraction for now, we had an overflow in guests tonight including Amy who was on the upscale side of the club and a few other familiar faces,
Amy..- you really run the hell out of this place
I looked around then drank out of my martini glass,
Shenika..- well I have to .. it's what will keep a roof over me and my daughters head
Amy..- with the work your brother is putting in, you won't have to
I scoffed at her
Shenika..- I used to think like that
..
Shenika..- but I think I need to put in my own work
..
Shenika..- thank you for being here tonight
We both raised our glasses,
Amy..- any given opportunity for business,
I smiled at her and she returned the same smile back before I left her booth and walked over to the main bar, the atmosphere was heightened but just as I was about to walk behind the bar, I was rubbed the wrong way by a guy sitting there casually having a drink, it only took hold of me because I knew everyone here was on something .. and most faces were familiar but his? I hadn't seen him round here before.
I went behind the bar and walked over to him whilst wiping out a glass with a towel and looked up at him,
Shenika..- I've never seen you around here before
Kyle..- first time for everything
Shenika..- since it's your first time, you should try the dragon bomb over a ..
I looked at him up and down,
Shenika..- expresso martini
He chuckled at me,
Kyle..- what's wrong with what I'm drinking
What was wrong with what he was drinking was the fact I knew he was a cop.
Who comes in a club to drink an expresso martini?Shenika..- nothing .. just not something you pick off the menu at a high-end nightclub
I shrugged at him and he just chuckled,
Kyle..- how long you guys been open for
I leaned over the counter,
Shenika..- about two months
Kyle..- quite a success for two months
Shenika.- ah ca,
That was a French expression for you're right,
Kyle..- you're not French though
Shenika..- excuse me sir but if not mistaken you don't know me
I leaned back and raised my eyebrow at him because he was close to blowing his own cover and I hadn't even tried yet,
Kyle..- you're right I don't know but you don't sound like you're from here anyways
Shenika..- it's not good to jump to conclusions you know,
