Y/N's POV

I waited outside for my mom to pick me up. She was especially late today. I sat on the side of the school and sighed.

I looked at the ground and saw some flowers, roses to be precise. They had lost their beautiful red colours. Their petals were now a pale shade of beige.

I looked around to see if anyone was near me. When I made sure I was alone, I decided to use my mutation.

As soon as I touched the roses, their petals regained their splendid scarlet hue.

I felt a quick breeze behind me. When I looked to my left, a silver haired boy sat down next to me.

"Watcha doing ?" He asked.

"Nothing" I said, trying to not act suspicious. He couldn't know I was a mutant. He'd probably tell the entire town.

"How did you manage to get here so fast ?" I asked trying to change the vague topic of conversation.

"I don't know. How did you manage to make that flower blossom ?" He answered with a playful smile.

That's when I understood. He was a mutant too.

We talked for an hour while I waited for my mother.
His name was Peter and his mutation allowed him to run extremely fast.

"Can I ask you a question ?" He asked.

"Sure" I answered.

"Could you create one of those huge carnivore plants that are big enough to eat people ? Like in the movies ?" He said with a goofy tone.

"Well I've never tried, but I don't think so. I mean I could create a normal sized venus flytrap, but since giant versions of those don't actually exist, no I don't think I could"

I heard a car stop in front of us, it was my mom. I took my bag and got up.

"I have to go, it was nice meeting you Peter" I said as I created a regular-sized venus flytrap on the grass in front of him.

I got inside the car and looked back at Peter who stared at the plant in awe. He looked at me and smiled.

When I got back home, I went to my room and opened my bag to start working on my assignments. A white piece of paper fell from my bag.

It was Peter's phone number with the message 'call me' under it.

I chuckled.

Peter and I were gonna get along very well.
