Haylee

-

"Askskdjh!"

I tugged an earbud out of my ear and looked up at the flight attendant.

Her brown lipstick covered lips parted in an irritated smile. "The flight lands in five minutes. Please turn off your electric device and put the table up."

I rolled my eyes and slammed the table against the seat in front of me before shoving my phone in my carry-on. I couldn't wait to get off of this stuffy plane. Although I couldn't say the same about going to North Carolina. I watched as trees and cars got closer and closer while we landed, and I let my eyes flutter shut.

I always went a little crazy over the summer. Last week, August, was the first time I ever got caught. I got busted for underage drinking at a party, because apparently 18-year-olds like myself can't have one fucking beer.
Ha. Like that was the worst thing I had ever done.

So, because of the arrest, my parents shipped me over to North Carolina to live in some gigantic house with my best friend, Felicity Downing. She had gotten caught, too- which apparently was surprising to everyone because she was a "good girl". I scoffed internally.

I, personally, didn't think it was a very big deal. Felicity and I both had super rich lawyer-parents who could easily pay the bail. So the fact that we had to live on our own in some shitty, small, unknown town made me angry.

I glanced at my tan hands. It was snowing in the North Carolina city that my taxi would pick me up in. I might not be tan for a long time.

I climbed into the backseat of the taxi, my three suitcases rattling in the trunk. While The 1975, my favorite band, blasted through my ears, I watched the scenery. It was pretty, at least that was something. The long ranges of mountain were topped with the first powdery snowfall of the year.

I pulled a sketchbook out of my bag and started absentmindedly sketching the mountains.

I was scared.

No, I was horrified. In three days, I would be starting a new school and would be forced to meet all new people. And Felicity would have to re-learn all the names of people.

My phone rang. It was my mom. I ignored it, but tears slid slowly down my cheeks as I watched her name flash on my screen. It rang again, and I finally gave in. Wiping my tears, I picked up the phone. "Hello?"

"Did you land safely? Did you get your bags? At you in Maggie Valley yet? Are you with Felicty?" My mom pounded me with questions. I didn't respond, so she finally asked in a soft voice "How are you feeling?"

Anger surged through me.

"I'm feeling like my own mother pulled me away from my home, friends, and social life and shoved me in a piece of shit, God knows where, town where the only person I know is Felicity. I'm feeling like my senior year, one of the best years of my life, I'm going to have to start all over again and meet new people, make new memories, when I should be crying and hugging my friends at graduation back in San Diego, not standing like a loser off to the side with no one to smile with." I shouted. My voice started to shake with tears, so I stopped talking.

The taxi driver glanced at me from the mirror, but I flipped him off and wiped tears out from under my eyes.

"Hales-" my mom began.

"Don't you dare call me that." I growled.

"Haylee. You've brought this on yourself. Your father and I will visit regularly. This is your chance for a new beginning. You can finally stop drinking and doing drugs and partying and getting caught up in the wrong crowd. If you really want to skip college and travel the world, then this would be where you prove your independence and responsibility."

The taxi pulled up a gravel pathway on the side of the mountain, and I knew I didn't have much time left to talk.

"So I couldn't have just gotten a summer job, or done some chores to prove my 'independence and responsibility'? You know, make me do things a normal mom would instead of sending me to Asswipe Valley?" I said, opening the door and climbing out.

My mom didn't even sound said. "Haylee-"

"No mom, save it. I don't want any of your crap anymore." I said, before turning off my phone and chucking it into one of my suitcases.

Calum

-

I stared out my bedroom window at the two taxis that pulled up next to the house across the street. Two girls, about 18, my age, stepped out and hugged, crying softly.

The house across from mine wasn't really across from mine. There was a range of treetops and then a flat hill where the two girls' house was.

I was surprised they didn't have an adult with them. I thought that Luke, Ashton, and I were the only ones that lived together instead of with parents.

Well, except for Michael, who lived by himself. And Rachel and Kelsie, who lived together but were always fighting. They only lived a couple streets away.

I noticed that the balcony on the house that faced the balcony on my house was no longer empty. A team of a ton of workers moved things around and placed chairs, easles, and minibars. In the midst of the chaos, a blonde girl stood perfectly still, a cigarette in her hands as she blew smoke into the hair. I could hardly see her, but I already knew she was beautiful.

Ashton

-

"... ninety nine, one hundred." I groaned, slamming the dumbbell down against the metal poles. I groaned and sat up, rubbing my sore biceps.

I heard a slow clap from behind and turned to see Rachel standing in front of me watching me with a smirk on her lips, her cheerleading skirt pulled high on her waist.

I rolled my eyes and stalked across the school's weight room towards her.

"What are you doing here?" I asked lazily. This wasn't the first time.

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

"Calum got me a key." I asked, emphasizing Calum's name.

"I came here to watch you workout." she mumbled, pinching my bicep.

"Rachel, stop. Calum is your boyfriend and my best friend."

She pouted slightly and licked her lips. She was so hot, but she was Calum's, so I shoved past her on my way out the door, knowing that, once again, I wouldn't tell Calum about this for fear of breaking his heart.

Michael

-

I rolled the joint messily and took a long drag, my eyes closing involuntarily.

"MICHAEL CLIFFORD. LISTEN TO ME!" I heard Kelsie scream, but her voice was muffled.

I felt bad, but now that I was stoned, I didn't.

I glanced at Kelsie, and her face was red. She wore nothing but a white bra and I smiled at her.

"You're cute when you're angry." I mumbled, walking over to her and kissing her. My hands traveled hungrily across her breasts, feeling around through her bra before they settled in between her thighs.

My thumb ran along the side of her crotch, but I was overwhelmed by a fresh wave of highness, and backed away, falling against the floor.

"SERIOUSLY? That's the second time you've pretended like you were going to have sex with me. We made out and you took of my clothes, then flopped. Now you-" she screamed angrily, but I cut her off.

Tired of hearing her bitch, I walked over and grabbed her waist, throwing her down on the bed roughly and unbuckling my pants.

"Now do what you've done a million times." I mumbled.

Author's Note:

So I had this idea for a fanfic that was kind of inspired by a few other stories.

Anyways, it's kind of slow moving right now but it will get good so please favorite and comment and stick with me.

P.S- not all chapters will have everyone's POV. It was only this one because I needed to get their personalities sorted out.
