Chapter 3: The Lead

Thank you guys all for reading! I'm surprised a few people actually read Chapter 2! It really did give me the motivation to continue writing.

Although the view counts are nowhere near impressive, I'm happy to see even one view that isn't mine. :D

Just as a small announcement - I'll have to return to studying soon, so I probably wouldn't be able to release any new chapters until the weekends. :(

On the bright side, 2.5 is coming this Wednesday! Only one more day to go! I hope all of you guys get what you wanted next update! I'll see you guys again!

Third POV:

It had been a few hours, and the Traveler still showed no sign of returning. Both Beidou and Paimon were getting extremely concerned.

"Paimon is getting worried..." Paimon said.

"Same here," Beidou replied, "could it be that he got in trouble?"

"Paimon is certain that the Traveler can deal with whatever came to him easily."

"Agreed, but knowing that it is taking an oddly long time for him to take care of his troubles..."

"He isn't alright, is he..."

Dottore's POV:

BRILLIANT! ALL MY HARD WORK IS FINALLY GETTING PAID OFF!

I sat at my desk, with my finger tapping onto the surface nonstop. My eyes could not resist seeing the sheet of paper saying:

Test subject 258th - 1: Succeeded

The room barely had any motion, any changes for at least 10 minutes or so, until the door creaked.

Ugh, I should replace that door.

At the entrance stood a figure. A man came in, wearing a fancy suit and exquisite accessories. Just by the look of it, everyone could already tell he was wealthy.

"PANTALONE! WELCOME! WELCOME!"

"Make this quick, Dottore."

"Hehehe. Behold, Pantalone."

I raised the injection used on the Traveler.

"It's the same thing you showed me at the previous meeting."

"Yes! But! Do you know who I injected it into this time?!"

"Another pathetic pest, I assume?"

"WHAT?! NO! Come follow me."

I led him to the room on the other side. The moment we entered, the Traveler had jumped up in shock. Pantalone didn't move an inch right after he saw the blonde boy trapped in a cage.

"Impressive. Right? RIGHT?!"

"To be capable of imprisoning one of our top threats is an achievement worth mentioning indeed."

"But the presentation doesn't just end here! Look."

The gate opened, allowing me to enter. The guinea pig trembled and breathed heavily. I grabbed his left arm and held the injection close to his skin. He hesitated, using all of his remaining strength to resist. Unfortunately for him, and fortunately for me, it didn't help the Traveler at all. And so, the substance entered his body once again, flowing through his veins and enlarging his left arm. He groaned painfully. Along with it came the sounds of crying, desperately begging for mercy.
