Once Charles made sure Sam was working alright, he went over to his phone to text Maddie and Simon just as he'd promised. He saw the time - it was 11:03pm. He wasn't sure if they were awake - Simon probably would be, but Maddie, he wasn't so sure.

I mean it was, like, 10?? I guess
