Hi! Welcome to my first short story! This is based on the stereotypical imposter in electrical, I hope you enjoy:)
P. S. please keep negative or dismissive comments to yourself. Thank you!
White rushed around the map frantically looking for at least ONE person, preferably a crewmate. He ducked his head into the oxygen room, navigation, and even communications, but nope! Not a single person. White started to worry more than he usually did. What if he was the only one left with the imposter? Was that even possible? What if everyone was counting on him?! What if he couldn't do it? WHAT IF HIS TEAM LOST BECAUSE OF HIM!?
As these lovely thoughts circled around in his brain, he stepped into admin. And there was one person: stuck on swiping the card. You would think the imps would find him an easy target. White grumped as he waved to Banana.
"Banana! My friend!" White said, putting on his best smile.
"I told you not to call me that." Banana huffed as he failed swiping again.
"Um. But. . . that's your color."
"What does that have to do with anything?!" He failed once more.
"I - I guess nothing." White decided. "So, have you seen anyone around?"
"No! I've been stuck on this STUPID card for the entire game." White now realized why no one wanted to kill not banana (or whatever he wanted to be called), they would be haunted by an annoyingly grumpy ghost.
"Well," White continued. "Maybe you could come with me to electric to check in there-" He was interrupted by a ding sound.
"YES!" Not banana cheered. "I did it! I swiped my card!" He jumped up and down, causing his space helmet to bop up and down.
"That's just great," White said, as he watched yellow do some weird celebratory dance which involved shaking his hips. Well, if the impostor doesn't kill me that sure will, White thought. "B- But we really need to go to electric together."
"No way." Not banana called as he raced out of the room. "I'm going to do another task. ANOTHER task! Whoooooo" He cheered running in the opposite direction of electrical.
"Well." White mumbled to himself. "Time to face my fear. It's going to be fine. I'll be in and out. Maybe the impostor isn't there, or off killing banana not banana, or maybe even on a bathroom break." (Was that even a thing?) White slowly crept toward the room, peering in from the entrance to the room. White was about to leave when he heard the sound of metal hit the floor.
"H- h- hello?" White stammered, stepping in. To his great relief and immense surprise there were no dead bodies. But he stumbled back anyway when purple stepped out from the smaller wall obscuring one's view from the vent.
"Oh! Hi White." Purple waved, amiably. "Wow. haven't seen anyone around here lately. Been working on these tasks" White exhaled in relief when Purple sounded so calm and not- impostor- like. She wiped her hand over her brow to add extra effect. Except when she did a bit of red smeared from her hand. White's heart decided then to stop working, but he tried to look like nothing happened. How could he be so dumb? Purple was by far the best liar in the group, which made her an excellent impostor.
White tried really, really, REALLY hard not to run out of the room. Purple was fast, she would notice something was up, and get him. Then he only had one option - every crewmate had a button on their helmets which immediately called everyone to a meeting. White took a step closer to the wall trying to look over subtly.
"Hmm," Purple frowned at him. "You look nervous, White. Everything okay?"
He could feel sweat trickling down his neck as he nodded and took another step closer. Purple watched him curiously when he stepped closer and closer, until he could look over the wall. White let out a small cry and stumbled back. A pile of dead bodies were stacked behind the wall all stabbed brutally. White dashed for the door to make an escape, but no such luck. Purple shut the door.
Purple walked toward him. "Yeah, sorry White. On more stab-stab and I win. I've been here in electrical the whole time. I'm the impostor."
White managed to blurt something out before Purple got her wish. "Shocking."
Wow. That was longer than expected. I hope you enjoyed my first story! Until next one. . .
