ROXY
______When Chica and I arrived at the daycare center, I couldn't see anything. I was getting really pissed off. That stupid, slippery little kid was playing me for a fool. He was playing us all for fools. Then, I noticed Freddy out of the corner of my eye.
I was about to call out to him, but then I noticed something strange. I saw a quick movement and then I heard Freddy's stomach cavity closing.
"Chica, did you just see..."
"Freddy!" Chica said. "Thank goodness you're here, toots... that kid is sending us on a wild goose chase, hehe!"
A flash of jealousy blinded me. What did that big, dumb bear have that I didn't?
Freddy walked over stiffly. He seemed... suspicious, to say the least.
"Have you seen the kid?" I asked him innocently.
"Er... nope," Freddy said. "Gotta go... need to get to my recharge station. Goodbye!"
"Right. Go do that." I growled.
And off he went. I glared at his back as he left, then went to turn to Chica about what I saw.
But, social as ever, she went to greet Monty.
Stupid lizard.
"Monty! We can't find him. I don't know where he could have hid, but he was just here. We better look around, don't you think?" she chirps.
"I'll find him, Chica... don't you worry a hair on your head."
Chica giggled.
They begin searching, trying to lure him out of his hiding place.
"Your parents are looking for you!" Chica calls.
"You can hide... but you can't hide!" Monty growls.
Stupid lizard.
"Don't worry, I'll just be looking for him... anywhere but here." I said, storming away.
That kid has to be related to the glitch. Crawling inside Freddy... that's why I can't see him. Maybe the kid is trying to mess with us from the inside. What other explanation is there?
"Roxy!"
I ignore her.
"Roxy, wait! Why are you upset?"
"Surprised you even noticed, considering Freddy and Monty are so much more worthy of your attention." I snapped.
"Roxy, they're my friends!" Chica protested.
"Yeah. Right. Best friends."
Chica stops me. "I don't know what all of this is about. Am I not allowed to talk to anyone besides you?"
"Sure, all you want. 'ooh, Freddy, I'm so glad you're here to protect us! Ooh, Monty, you'll find him, won't you? Ooh, my HERO."
"I- I never said that!"
"You didn't have to. I know when I'm not wanted."
"Roxy... please. I didn't mean to make you jealous." She grabs my hand.
I stare at her hand and stay silent.
Chica squeezes my hand and says, "We need to focus on this glitch. I didn't see the kid anywhere, but I'm sure that he's the one that triggers it. Did you see anything?"
I focus on her hand and squeeze it back. I force myself to calm down. "Yeah, actually. I did. I saw Freddy acting weird. I think the kid is actually inside of Freddy, inside his stomach cavity."
Chica drops my hand. "I already told you that I was sorry. Stop taking it out on Freddy."
"This isn't about that," I said. "I saw him close his stomach cavity. And he was in a hurry to get out of here, too."
"Roxy, that's ridiculous. Freddy would never do something like that. You can't be so jealous, Roxy. I don't like him like I like you."
"You know what? Forget it. Go search with Monty. I'm sure he'll help you. In more ways than one." I snarled. I stomped away. I was gonna figure this out with or without Chica.
"Fine!" Chica yelled after me. "Maybe he'll actually be nice to me!"
Stupid lizard.
CHICA
_______"Hey kid, come on out! We're only trying to help." Monty calls.
"Monty? Can I... talk to you about something?" I ask weakly. After Roxy stomped off, my anger turned into guilt.
"Sure, Chica." Still looking around mistrustfully, he turns to face me.
"Monty... I think that I'm making Roxy jealous." I confess. "I don't mean to, but I just don't want to ignore everyone else-"
"Whoa... are you and Roxy, like... rockin?"
I snort. "Sure, you can call it that. I feel bad, because now she's so upset that she's making stuff up about Freddy-"
Monty tips his sunglasses. "Making stuff up? What did she say?"
"She said that the kid was inside Freddy's birthday cake hatch."
"I never pegged Freddy for a traitor... 'course, I've pegged him in another way..."
"Okay, that's not what we're talking about," I interrupted. "And there's another thing. I think that there's something wrong with my code. Like a glitch or something."
"Oh?" Monty asks. "I've noticed some things, too."
"Really?" I say. If I can get more information from Monty, then we're that much closer to figuring out this glitch thing. "What's wrong?"
"Well..." Monty starts. He stretches out his joints. "I noticed that I have these gaps in my memory. I've been getting angrier, too... Not sure what's happening. Oh! And there's another thing..."
"Yes?" I say eagerly.
"I think I'm getting a six pack. I've been working out in my free time." He shows me his abs. "What do you think?"
"Umm..." I don't have the heart to tell him that there's nothing there but plastic. "Sure... getting abs. For sure. Um, I think I'm gonna go find Roxy and tell her about this."
"Rockin," Monty says to himself, already ignoring me and feeling his imaginary abs.
I head in the direction Roxy went. I'm starting to wonder if she wasn't making stuff up... After all, Freddy did seem to hurry out as soon as we came to investigate the daycare center.
I just need to talk to her. Maybe we can go find Freddy after we talk this through and figure out what exactly is going on with us all.
