Irrefutable Fate

CHAPTER 5

Like a wildfire in the forest na madaling kumalat. That elevator incident made Vivian call immediately to me. "Gaga ka! Malandi ka. Nagkita kayo doon sa elevator tapos?" Sigaw ni Vivian sa kabilang linya. "Gaga ka! Marites ka! Duty mo ngayon." Sabi ko naman at agad pinatay ang tawag. Curious tuloy ako kung may spy camera ba sila para sa akin at updated sila.

I decided to stop by sa nakahilerang street vendors at maghanap ng tupig uoang ibigay sa anak ko. Favorite niya iyon eh hindi buo ang araw niya kung walang ganoon na kinain. Hindi ko naman siya ipinag lihi sa ganoon pero ewan ko ba kung bakit siya takam na takam dito. Bumili ako ng anim na balot ng tupig.

I was outside of our house then my phone rang. An unregistered number is calling me. I am lazy to got curious so to feed my curiousity of who is calling me. I decided to answer it. "Hello. Doctor Lyra Cruz speaking."

"Stop the formalities. I call because I want you to save my number" sabi ng kung sino man sa kabilang linya. My mind recognizes this voice. "Who are you?" Just to make sure if i was truely is correct on my assumption I asked it.
"Nasa elevator lang tayo kanina ah. You already forgot what my voice is?" He said it as if he was hurt. The hell I care.
"Oh yeah. I'm sorry. Why did you call me?" I made sure that my voice sounds bored. Sana ramdam niya.

"I just called to say na. I'm okay that you'll treat me a person whom you only happened to knew but I will treat you as a person whom I knew and looking forward to know you more better" He said it. Honestly, I didn't feel anything. Hindi ako kinilig sa sinabi niya. Manhid  na ata ako for not feeling anything.

To alter the topic, nagtanong nalang ako sa kanya malayo sa sinasabi niya. "Who gave you my number?" Kung sino ka mang nilalang ka na nagbigay ng number ko siguraduhin mong hindi kita makikita dahil babalatan kita ng buhay.

"Kelly." He simply said. Napa face palm na lamang ako dahil expected naman na na siya ang nagbigay. "Seriously, I'm okay with being friends with you. If everytime i will contact you or something like treat you to a dinner don't think that I'm doing it because I like you and I want you to like me. I'm doing it because I just want to be close and be friends with you to know you better like friends do. Kelly, Vivian amd you are fun to be with. I have to go now. People start to contact me. Have a nice rest. Bye" After he said it he ended already the call.

Inilagay ko ang phone ko sa bag ko at umupo ako ng maayos. I began to recall what conversation were conversed at the hospital after I saw him.

"You're going home?" Asked by him. Inwas to stunned to speak. Lumabas na lamang ako sa elevator bago pa ito magsara.

"Uhm. Yes. Tapos na duty eh" I replied to him as if I'm okay for what he did.

"Hatid sana kita kaso busy ako dito" sabi niya. Inis akong tumingin ng diretso dito at sabihin nalang kung ano ang gusto kong sabihin. Ayaw kong magpaka plastic.

"Look Doc Alvin. I'm not dumb for not noticing your actions towards me. Sending me flowers and all? I know na gawain iyon ng mga tao who woukd like to get the attention of someone. Yes you did get my attention but not my intention to reciprocate what you are feeling towards me." Sunod sunod na sabi ko. I felt like a thorn was pulled out from the heart. Nasabi ko na rin sa wakas. Ayaw ko naman paasahin ang tao.

"Oh" The only word that came out from his mouth. Before he will say something more I immediately leave him there. I don't care if he is hurt or what. I'm not obliged to what he felt. That's the perks of liking someone. Not all whom you like will like you back so prepare for a misery that you may experience.

I cleared my thoughts and went inside of our house. Yaya Sabel was there to take care of Amaris while Wynona and Aldrix go to school. Years of working as a doctor made me bought a house and lot. "Manang, si Amaris?" Tanakng ko agad pagkapasok ko ng bahay. "Ay ma'am pumunta po dito si Ex-Mayor Alfred. Sabi ay ipapasyal daw niya si Amaris sa mall" natigilan ako nang banggitin ito ni manang. "Babalik daw po sila dito bago mag 3 pm" yukong sabi ni manag. Iniisip ata niya galit ako. "Okay." Malumanay kong sabi para maramdaman nito na hindi ako galit. "Magluto ka na at dito na tayo kakain si Tito Alfred" pagpapatuloy ko na agad namang sinunod ni manang Sabel.
