Hi, darling. I know you're having a hard time with all the stuff your friends said the other day but your father and I thought it would be best if we write you this letter explaining how it all began. You've told us countless time how much you hate to being lectured, so we hope you enjoy reading our story.

I don't know if you remember but I was born in Barcelona. My life was pretty colorful until something awful happened.  When I  was 12, my mother died and it all turned gray. I felt broken, like a very important piece of my heart felt missing and for a long time it stayed that way. My father turned into a stranger. Of course he was hurt but something changed inside him. He was over protecting me and he didn't let me live my own life. He felt like he needed to control everything about me so he could never lose me like he lost my mom. As the time went by I realized my mother always told me that I needed to go out there and discover things on my own and the first thing I had to do was to move on, so I did. I started to become a whole new person and do whatever I liked but my father made sure that every single thing I did would be under his roof and followed his rules. But you know me better than anyone, so you're probably thinking I was a little rebel just like you. To be honest, I tried to never listened to my father because he forbid me of doing almost everything I wanted and I don't regret it because I wouldn't have met your father and you.

Anyways, my life changed when I turned 20. I was working for my father in his company "Empresas Ontiveros". It was the most successful marketing business in Spain. Yeah, it was unbelievable. My dad put me in charge of the website and human resources but I didn't like any of it. I was trying so hard to live with my father because it was unbearable and spending time at the office didn't make things easier.  We didn't have a good relationship but he cared too little in order to fix it.

One day, I don't know why but I didn't have any good sleep. I would wake up every two minutes. Around 6am I decided to go for a run around the neighbourhood. My father had already left for work, so it was just me. I listened to what used to be my favorite song "Saturday" by Twin Shadow feat. Haim and enjoyed the fresh air. I liked to run because for a brief moment I felt free and happy to just be far away from home. Those few hours of happiness kept me alive with my father but it would get so much harder to feel like that. My work out session was interrupted by an urgent call from my dad. He wanted me  to go right away because he had organized a meeting, so I went back to take a shower, got dressed, had a quick breakfast and drove to the office. When I arrived my dad was already waiting for me. He was walking really fast and hurrying me up. It seemed I had to attend this important meeting in which they would decide who was the lucky one to take charge of the unit in Italy. My father bought a lot of companies in Venice but he wanted someone from our unit to manage all the work there. It was a big promotion and everyone wanted it because they also wanted to start another business with a new client, so it was a pretty big deal for my dad. Getting hired and adhering to other clients, it was his dream coming true. I was excited for all the other employees, especially for Paolo. He truly deserved it.

When I entered the meeting room everyone was waiting for me and looked excited to know who was getting transferred. It turned out my father gave me the job and to be honest, I felt so embarassed. I didn't deserve to go. All of my dad's workers were professionals and worked really hard to get that promotion. Even though they congratulated me, I just sat at my desk speechless and not knowing what to do. I wanted to ask my father to ungive it to me but he sent me home to pack my things and get ready because I had to leave that weekend. However, I decided to go to my best friend's house, you know, Aunt Christine. She was excited for me because I could meet cute Italian guys but I could only think of how important was this promotion to my dad and if I did something to ruin it, he would get extremely angry at me.

The next  few days I packed my things, made the reservations for my hotel room and prepared everything for the trip. I accidentally bought a ticket to Alessandria, Italy. I didn't tell my father about my mistake because I knew he was going to lecture me and buy me a new one, so I just bought a train ticket from Alessandria to Venice. On Saturday noon I left for the airport. I was waiting for my flight and a handsome guy was looking at me. He seemed to be reading a business magazine with a picture of my dad and I on the front cover. I smiled at him and looked away. I got distracted for 2 minutes and the guy was already flirting with another girl.

My trip to Italy was going to be focused on my work and myself.

When I arrived I was starving. I was hungry for a big, juicy hamburger, so before I left to the train station I took a cab and asked the driver to take me to the best diner in town.

I'm going to leave this part to your father. He remembers it all too well.
