Nick Furys POV

Nick woke up and felt a weight on his chest and looked down and saw Katherina sleeping blissfully, this put a smile on his face, especially after the last night that was still in his bones. He could hardly bear to see his sweet Katherina so desperately, most of all he would like to beat them all up, but he knew that only Papa Bear was speaking from him.

He shifted his weight a little and wondered what he could do to help her, but his thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. He cleared his throat and whispered "Wait a minute, I'm coming." Without waking her, he tried to lift Rina off his chest and slowly move away. He let out a relieved breath as he quietly walked to the door and opened it.

He saw Natasha on the other side of the door raise an eyebrow in amazement when she saw him "Fury what are you doing here?" He looked at her defiantly "if i remember correctly this is my daughters room so what the hell you want here ?? "

Natasha stepped back startled and looked at Fury with big eyes, she could hardly hold back his stare despite her spy training, because none of her mates had living parents, so this was a completely new situation for her. But she wasn't one of the best Shield agents for nothing, she caught herself again immediately and answered him I wanted to pick up Katherina for breakfast and we thought about spending the day with her to get to know each other better."

Fury sighed deeply and stepped out of the room and quietly closed the door. "I wish you had already thought of that yesterday, let's walk a bit." Natasha looked at him worriedly and looked at Katherina's room. "Has something happened? Shall we just leave her alone? - Nick remained silent and took a few steps to the elevator. Romanoff, move on, I don't have forever. She will sleep a few more hours, don't worry. Natasha quickly followed him into the elevator and he pressed the button for the roof. "I don't want someone interrupting us for the conversation that is ahead, understand?" - "Understood, sir!"

They went in silence to the roof of the compound and Fury walked over to the bench there and sat in silence. He sighed deeply and massaged his forehead. "What I'm telling you now doesn't necessarily have to stay between us, but I definitely don't want Katherina to find out that you've got this from me, understand?" She nodded worryingly and had no doubt that she wouldn't like what he was about to tell her about her soulmate. She took a deep breath and replied "Sir, I don't understand what happened, when we said goodbye to her, she was in a good mood."

Fury considered what he could tell her without hurting Katherina's trust too much, after all she was grown up now and even if nobody would believe him, he didn't want to patronize his daughter.

I didn't adopt her normally - Natasha knitted her eyebrows in confusion because she didn't know where this would lead - We dug different Hydra bases and in one of these we found a girl who was barely viable, all of it apart from the fact that in her 7 years at Hydra she has to endure more trauma than seems humanly possible to me. I immediately felt a connection with her and adopted her right away and she has slowly recovered with a lot of help. But there are things that cannot be recovered from, I think Barnes will confirm that. What I mean by that she has grown into an incredibly strong, beautiful and independent woman and I couldn't be more proud of her. But it doesn't matter, she has trust issues and she opened up to you yesterday and in spite of everything you have already failed with her. What do you mean, how scared I was when FRIDAY called me tonight at two-thirty in the morning and told me my little girl is about to have a panic attack. While all of their mates are sleeping blissfully? Can you explain that to me?"

Natasha was speechless. She had never seen Fury so emotional and angry at the same time. "Um, I thought she was fine and she felt comfortable here." She looked at him desperately "I didn't realize that she was so bad, otherwise we would never have left her alone. "
