Chapter 1

Beep! Beep!

Chloe rolled over, looked at her clock and squinted at it, it read 6: 30 am she sighed, time to get up for school! Chloe looked around at her box filled room, she'd have to unpack after going on her first day of her new school. She sighed again then got up, she was clutching her stuffed fox tightly in her hand, Chloe chucked the fox - whose name is Ardy onto her small bed. Chloe walked over to the mirror and looked at the bags under her eyes, "another long day" she muttered Chloe reached out with her hand and touched her cheek through the mirror, the mirror had been the first thing she had unpacked,she wanted to make sure it wasn't broken like most of the glasses Mum had put in the moving truck. Her eyes drifted over the crease in between her eyebrows and she rubbed it softly, Chloe then heard a quiet knock from the door "Come in!" Chloe said loudly. Her slim mother came in and smiled warmly at Chloe, Chloe used her outstanding acting skills and smiled back, her Mum looked satisfied and whispered "well your uniform is the only thing in your drawers at the moment so take a shower then hop into that, good?" She didn't wait for her answer, which, would've been yup anyway, "Good!" her Mum said in a tone that said that she was to do it now.As her Mum closed the door Chloe took one last look at her reflection then turned to her drawers to get her uniform and a towel from a box next to her lamp. Then Chloe got undressed and got into the shower letting the heat wash away her worries and nerves. When she had gotten out of the shower she realised that she had forgotten to take out her tomorrow braid. Chloe quickly dried herself then got into her school uniform it had a thigh length grey skirt, under the skirt there was dark navy stockings and on top where black boots, Chloe kicked the hard, wood floor with them, pretty sturdy Chloe thought on top she wore a dark navy jersey and poking out the top was a white collar. She looked in the mirror and laughed; she looked horrible! That's when she remembered she had to go to school in it, though she took comfort in the fact that her favourite character -from her favourite book- had to wear a stupid uniform when she first went to Foxfire! Chloe undid her sopping wet tomorrow braid, she brushed out her hair letting the feeling of the sharp bristles take her attention away from everything else, when she was done she looked in the mirror, today was gonna be a hard day... so yesterdays worries weren't gonna help, so Chloe split her hair down the middle, divided one half into three parts and started platiting it slowly imagining there were colours being woven into it, each colour a different emotion, when Chloe was done, she did it on the other side she imagined she was at the Black Swans hideout, she was sitting on a chair and behind her Calla the gnome was plaiting her hair she sighed, when Chloe was done with her tomorrow braids she reached out and grabbed the door knob and walked down the stairs to the kitchen, where her mum had made her breakfast, she had made some porridge she grabbed it then went upstairs to pack her bag Chloe grabbed her phone and her bluetooth headphones she connected them and clicked on Spotify she clicked on Melanie Martinez Pity Party and then she clicked repeat, then stuffed her phone in the front pocket of her bag, Chloe grabbed her laptop and stuffed that too in her bag along with her mouse and a couple of pens, pencils, a rubber, a highlighter and a sharpener. Chloe's books were already at her new school. She grabbed her bag, slung it over her shoulder and walked downstairs to grab her lunch money from the top of the fridge, they had always done it. Chloe went up on her tippy toes and grabbed the money, on the front written in a dark blue pen it said

"Hey Honey, sorry, I had to get to my work introduction earlier than I thought. See you at 5!

Chloe groaned could her Mum be any more embarrassing,

She walked outside and breathed in the cool Autumn air, she wasn't the type of kid that only stayed in their rooms all day, neither was she the type of person who was super adventurous, she was the type of kid who'd grab a book, walk to the closest park or just sit in the garden and read to get away from everything. School wasn't that far from her new house so she could just walk,Chloe unzipped the front pocket of her bag grabbed her phone she texted her besties, Natasha, Lily and Grace,
