Ashley has a bad habit of biting her nails whenever she's nervous and today, shes nervous. Nervous of finding out that she didn't make it to the PWA (Professional Writing Academy ).
She sent in her own work and a résumé explaining why she strives to become a writer. Ashley mostly wrote poems or songs which later could possibly turn out to be screamo because of the deep lyrics but she kept it on a low key.
"Ashley Frangipane" was called and she immediately stood up. Waiting so long made her tired of sitting down.
She walked towards the door and into the office of a lady in her late 30's. Principle of the Academy and yet such a pointy nose."Take a seat please, I'm Miss Bridget". She said straight foreward. Ashley was a bit scared of her since Miss long nose was in a bit of annoyence.
"Needless to say you are obviously here to know if you've made it to my school so, so be it. ""You did not make it"
Ashley was barely in there for a minute and she already felt like crying. Her heart fell and she froze. It was as if she had just got punched in the stomach because it came so fast.
"W-what?" Ashley said quietly
Long nose looked up and shifted her glasses.
"You did not make it. Please step out so I may proceed with my job"
The problem was, Ashley did not want to step out. She wanted to stay and flip over her desk but sadly, that would be the wrong thing to do.
"Can I ask why I didn't make it?"
"I don't know, can you?"
Ashley mentally groaned.
"'May I ask why I didn't make it?"
Ms.Bridget shuffled through some papers and pulled out a sheet filled with notes.
"Let's see, for my school you have to be at least 20 years of age. Are you 20 years of age Miss Frangipane?"
"No but-"
"And we need students who write real pieces of literature. No need for teenage rebellions and idiotic lyrics"
Teenage rebellions? Idiotic lyrics?
Now, Ashley was mad. The type of mad where you wouldn't know, she could pounce on you any second now.
"I wrote what I wanted to write. I met the expectations of giving you a piece of my own work which by the way I don't think is idiotic" Ashley said angrily, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Miss Frangip-"
"And if students aren't even allowed to write what they want, then what's the point of being in this school? No one writes the same, your purpose is teaching us skills that we didn't know before and what do you do? Turn them down"
"I need you to stop please"
Miss Bridget had her hand on the telephone, probably to call the authorities if Ashley did not leave at this moment.
"I was leaving anyways" Ashley said standing up and slamming he door shut.
Her little rage was probably out of hand but the anger building inside of her had to be released. She didn't make it into the school of her dreams and that feeling sucks. It sucks knowing that they didn't take you in when you've worked so hard.
Ashley walked out of the building and wrapped her coat tightly around her. She sniffled and kicked the rocks on the pavement.
This was her fear, not making it.
