CHAPTER 11

Caitlyn's POV

When Niall said his last words and took a step out the door I saw Steph's face drop, a tear ran down her face as she stared out the window. I sat there for a while watching her, looking at the tears that dripped from her chin.
"Are you alright Steph?" I asked curiously "uh yeah I just need to be alone for a while" I got up to go even though the Dr. James told me not to leave her. If being alone is what she wanted it's what I'll give her. I walked out the door as I said my goodbyes.

The one thing we never told Niall is that Steph wasn't actually in hospital just for the cut on her wrist, she was also here for lung cancer. The depression Stephane has makes the situation worse, with us being fans of one direction ( the band Niall is in ) we know that Niall's mother also past away from lung cancer in the same hospital. Telling him would only make it worse.

A few hours later all the monitors attached to Steph started going off in unison like she was....was dying.

I ran for the door as nurses tried to hold me back I screamed "Steph it's ok. I will be waiting for you! Don't worry" I heard Niall scream behind me. I ran towards him and pushed him back into a seat. "Niall it's no use just sit and wait she will be fine"

A few hours later the doctors came around and said that they had to cut the side of Stephane's chest to get to her lung. the left lung had filled up with water. "it's too early to tell if she will ever be able to breathe on her own again." he said the words leaving Niall in shock.

I get the feeling that he isn't buying what we are telling him...

Niall's POV

She's dead all because of me, should go and she should stay.

I don't believe Steph and Caitlyn are telling me the whole truth. All of those wires and cords not just for some stupid cut on her arm.

It all looked too familiar to me, the same cords in the same places and the same medicines.
"I don't know if I'm just paranoid or not but I don't think you are telling me the whole truth" I accidentally blurted out
"Uh what are you talking about?" Caitlyn asked
"I mean I don't think all of this is just because of one stupid cut"
"Ughh well... look we didn't want to tell you this but Stephane has lung cancer. We thought it would hurt you too much" she tried to soften the blow to my stomach but it just made it worse
"I think I'll head home...bye" I walked away with a hole in my heart.

It's better to leave Steph alone I think she'll be better off without me in her life. It hurts me but if Steph is happy I'll be happy.

I called her cell and left a message "hey Steph I just called to say goodbye you'll be better off without me I make the problem worse so goodbye"
